What else could we see spun off the S550 chassis? I think most of us are expecting a Lincoln sedan/coupe, but one fella on Ford Inside News has suggested a De Tomaso Pantera.........but then that car was a mid-engined exotic.......and would require Ford to buy the company, which isn't going to happen.

Me? I love the look of this thing, but I'd call it TORINO

Obviously heavily influenced (and based on) the Evos concept, but these proportions are spot on for me. I love the full fastback and even longer hood than S550 . Personally, I'd keep it a 2+2, even if the rear is only suitable for kids.

Anyone fancy trying to 'chop this into a Stang? Would make a nice basis for the '18MY refresh :D

The prob is if Ford made a 2+2 halo RWD car, we can pretty much say goodbye to the Mustang. I don't think sales would survive with all the competition and having Ford cannibalize itself on top of that. The only reason the Camaro is safe is because the Vette is for a totally different market with only 2 seats and much higher price point. I also think that if Ford were to ever go after the vette and make a halo car above the Mustang, it certainly wouldn't (and shouldn't) share its chassis.

Thats not to say I wouldn't love to see them make it but then Id wanna see the Ford GT revived. :)

that would be the best of both worlds

realiability of a Ford (including today's safety-features) and the Looks of a 1972 maserati ghibli

More or less the description of a restomodded 1971 Mustang with a suspension drop - as close as history has given us from factory, at least:

Granted, I think Jeff Lilly's '71 Wild Horse is the pinnacle of restrained restomodded '71-73s - IRS and all - even though it sits higher than the Ghibli I:

P.S.: I own two of these, and I realize they're not everyone's cup of tea - but if anyone does not like them, please keep the comments civil. I do not disrespect others' preferences in styling - if I voice an alternate preference, I do my best to express it respectfully. Please show the '71-73s the same courtesy.

Ford needs a super-sedan of some size. S550 based RWD, V8 powered (or TT V6) sedan to compete against the CTS-V, M3, M5, C63 AMG, E63 AMG, S4, S5, Chevrolet SS, etc...
