Doing a deep clean this past weekend revealed something the bothered me deeply.
The car only has 2K miles and already has rust buildup that seems to be coming from the rear window area. The water that was slowly seeping from the gasket between the trunk and rear glass was rusty looking. I gently peeled this back to reveal what is in the photos below.
I wonder if this is warranty inspection claim worthy ?
Aside from the surface rust I also noticed the hinge pin with some rust.
Could this be loose metal filings/shavings (like a wire wheel or grinder) at the factory?

In my opinion, you should as a minimum have the dealership document the rust area. I would ask that they repair the area before it gets worse.

I"m hoping they would at least pull the gasket and take a peek at anything lurking underneath or clean it thoroughly to keep it from coming back.

Taking it in tomorrow to have some warranty items addressed, this one included.

What a bummer. Need to check mine now. What other stuff needs to be addressed with your car?

AM Radio no reception.....yes I listed to AM talk radio !
Passenger door leaks water from the lower panel after a wash.

Starting to wonder if the Ford Exec who had the car for the first 160 miles jacked it up before offloading it...?

Update.
*The AM radio was disconnected in the headliner near the dome light. That explains why the darn thing was loose.
*They tried to tell me the rust in the trunk drain area was “”Normal””. Wtf???? I sent them my photos and said "try again".
*Finally the door leaking was dismissed at first until I sent them a photo of the leak.
so today I get back a photo from the service manager.

It shows:

1) The Service Manager is proud of her nails.
2) The breach and water leakage into the passenger compartment is due to the lack of sealant on the moisture barrier and door shell. Once additional sealant is applied it should fix the issue.

OK, so I get the car back today and.....
#1 They really couldn't see the rust I took photos of because I rubbed most of it off after I took them. I'll have to let more grow down there and take it to them to get their attention.
They did upload my photos to the case file. They said to replace the lower gasket would require removal of the rear window.

#2 The car was quite dirty after sitting outside for a week so I decided to wash it before putting it in storage.....unfortunately the door panel is STILL LEAKING. I sent Ms Claws the photos and hopefully we can meet again. She's actually very nice.

#3 Lastly, the AM radio is working and I'm happy to catch my morning AM Radio show again.
