run flat tires

Is anyone using run flat tires on the optional 20 inch wheel on the S550 GT? If so, what brand and size are you using?

I don’t really see a point in using run flats if you have the tire repair kit or the spare tire. You get a harsher ride with stiffened side walls than a regular tire. They wear out quicker. Most places don’t carry run flats. I would just stay away but that’s just my opinion.

I doubt you are going to find anyone on here with run flats. The performance compromises/negatives far outweigh any positives they could bring. Also I checked TireRack for a 365/35R-20 and found nothing. That should tell you something.

By the way take the inflation kit and toss is in the garbage where it belongs. Get a spare tire for peace of mind and convenience.

Run flats are horrible. I keep an air compressor and a tire plug kit in the trunk.

I drove from Lincoln Nebraska to Boston MA with a nail in my tire topping off a few times a day and watching the TPMS pressures. Usually a flat isn’t going to stop you from getting home as long as you give it some level of attention. I once even plugged a tire while it was still on the car.

Just once? In another life, when I worked construction, it seemed like I picked up a nail or screw weekly. I almost never took the tire off. I'll grant you that the rear tires on the Mustang might be more difficult than truck tires though...

Yup, my base 21 gt came with them. Once i can afford new wheels they will be winter tires only.

Agreed. Run flats are horrible. Had them on my Mercedes and the ride was not as smooth as one would expect for a higher-end C class.

I think you need to look at them again. Mustangs never came from the factory with run flats.

P zero nero, all season runflats 255 40 19 all the way around on black accent package wheels. Maybe the dealer installed them, or you need to do your research before posting.

I do my research before I post. You may have a unicorn because Pirelli doesn’t make a run flat P Zero Nero A/S in your size.

I had the Black accent package on my 2021 before someone ran into me and I've got it on my '22 - They both had the Pirelli P Zero Nero but they weren't run flats - didn't indicate it anywhere either.
It could be that your salesman told you in error - they (runflats) don't even come on the Shelby's
