The writing style was bizarre and certainly not one associated with journalists. Looked fake after the first sentence. The two images of the 'Mustang' didn't even cohere.

Agree that they are fanboy concepts cobbled together before the S550 was released.

I have just taken delivery of a Black EcoBoost Mustang and have checked the paint and body joins and could find no fault with the exception of paint missing on the right back end lip of the bonnet (hood). Has been fixed with touch-up paint and I will monitor to see if it holds.

Perhaps the quality tide is turning in our favour? Long may it continue to be so.

Just replying to MC on the Gold Coast - I ordered my Mustang in December 2014 and took delivery on 5 February this year. It is worth the wait, you will be very pleased with the overall package. I went for the EcoBoost and am very pleased with the engine performance, no doubt you will be even more so with the V8. Had a trip to Sydney this last weekend and got 7.4litres/100k on the trip cruising at 100 to 110klm/h.

That's pretty good! The first S550 I saw in the flesh had a lot of minor panel issues, and that upset me quite a bit, but I've seen a couple of others up close since then, and they've been pretty good. Glad yours turned out well.

That's exceptional fuel consumption, my Focus doesn't do that well

I must admit, I was very surprised with the 7.4litre/100klms result and was expecting around the middle 8s. I very "softly" drove the car in terms of acceleration and braking for running-in purposes. I also had a tank of 98 octane on board which may have contributed to the good result. Would be interested to hear of other EcoBoost owner fuel consumption figures.

I'm guessing it's powerful enough to not need to do much when it's up and cruising, while a less powerful 4 is labouring more up slight inclines, etc.

I have a colleague who has an EcoBoost Falcon and he reports similarly - car just doesn't need much curry to move it along.

Just some info about our rhd mustangs that have arrived. 1 or 2 have arrived with some dodgy paint issues but i think its down to the travel/delivery rather than factory issues. Ford have dealt with these cars and either fixed or paid towards a third party doing the work. Panel alignment seems to be affecting the front bonnet which is fixable by adjusting the latch, and also a few people have rear boot problems where it will scratch the top of the rear bumper when closing the boot, some will scratch unless you have the boot raised slightly. The lights seem to have condensation with the rain here but seems to come and go with the weather, in regards to transmission only thing reported is some having issues with a bad gear change so removing the clutch spring to fix
