I had the Roush axle backs for about a week with the factory resonator in place. To loud to this old man. I also felt there was a noticeable drone about 2500 rpm. I returned to the factory system and all is well again. I agree it could be a little louder but the drone when cruising was just to much for me with the Roush. Afraid to try any others without hearing them in person.

Agreed, I have an auto and I find myself going into sport mode to get the noise level a bit higher.

I take back my post, these are way too loud for me as well. They are coming off and going back to 100% stock exhaust.

We've had several customers switch from a louder exhaust to ours due to drone.

I plan to look into removing the foam from the sound tube first. $0 mod. Louder for me inside, but not for others outside?

That was one of my first mod's. Has been off for months. Loved the sound of the Roush from the outside, just to much drone for me. And I lined the trunk and back seats with sound deadening material, still didn't work.

Just wanted to say that I added the Roush Axle-backs this week, took all of 30 minutes to install, and it's exactly what the Dr ordered. Perfect street manners, zero drone, perfect growl around town, I had the tips painted black and I'm finally happy.....till someone comes out with a less $ active exhaust of course.
They already have!

Varex Catback or Boss X-pipe with Side exits and QTP valves. Both around $1500, rather than well over $2k for the Roush Active + software.

Edit: I guess technically these are passive since you have to press a switch or button... but still... great flexibility.

Well I test drove a Roush car twice. Each time it sounded like a 3 on my scale of 5. I am afraid to exceed '2', so I appreciate everyone's input to this thread. I wasn't sure if I was detecting drone or not on my second test drive last week.

How many places are there with foam in the tube?

Whatever you do, do not remove the stock resonator but if you do, keep it to put it back in place as I did.

I love the Roush AB with the stock resonator. Speaks volumes that Roush does not sell a resonator of its own to replace the stock or coupled with the axle back.

Roush AB with an x pipe is extremely loud and obnoxious to me. The car is not a daily driver with this set up. Video clips can't replicate how loud this set up really is live and heard in person.

If you want more a bit more noise or growl than stock without regretting it, Roush's AB with the stock resonator is my choice.

I watched every youtube video I could on the Roush Axle Back and nothing properly replicated what it actually sounds like. It is an incredible exhaust for a low priced axle back!

When I was shopping for my car this summer, the salesman took us into the service bay to start up one of two 2014 Roush cars. Brap-bap-bap!!! Can you say Race Car? :D

Seriously, though, that would be too loud for me as a DD. But I am uncertain as to what is changed exhaust-wise on a full Roush car.
And yes, the stock 15/16 GT exhaust is just a tad too quiet to satisfy anyone who is even a mild enthusiast.
When I first got my set up installed I thought holy shit this thing is too loud...then I ran it through the gears and was like :D

Dude I gotta ask, does your paint get beat up by the Phoenix freeways and Semi trucks everywhere?

I already had to buy Dr Colorchip and I won't even park next to anyone ever.

I have owned the car for less than a month, have 2500 miles on it because I drive about 100 miles a day to work.

Already have a cracked windshield and a few chips on the front fascia.

I cannot wait to move 5 minutes down the street from work in March.

Has anybody seen data regarding the volume of these two exhausts measured in decibels?

Stainlessworks has video of their different exhausts with the volume in decibels.

I like the sound of the Roush AB w/ resonator but don't want the car any louder than our GT500 was.
