Custom fabrication of one would be my best opinion. I was just having this discussion with a good friend and underwriter for SCT tuning.. He recommended a custom fabricated one. That way your fabricator can design it as large as it can possibly be. More coolant=more cooling and lower inlet air temps. I am considering a battery relocation and getting a very large reservoir fabricated and put in its place.

I'm guessing he's referring to something similar to what we had back in the day for 03/04 Cobra setups, Lightnings..etc. They worked great, especially at the track, would knock IAT temps down by 50-60F on a single run by simply putting ice in the reservoir.

Definitely makes sense! I guess I will be talking to a fabricator soon! If you come up with something please do post it up! I've thought about the battery relocation as well. Lethal has one that I believe will fit our battery box. Thanks for suggestions!

Just make sure when you mount it, that the top of the tank/inlet for incoming fluid, is HIGHER than where your intercooler plumbing is. You always want the tank to be the highest point in the cooling system for proper air bleeding.

Some of these are uglier than others, but a bit of proper plumbing/tubing, you should be good to go.

The link below is just for informational purposes. I'd encourage you to buy something from one of the many vendors on this site.

I wonder if a aftermarket tank for a Lightning or 03/04 Cobra could fit.. Has anyone just set one in the area to see what it would take to install.. It may be as easy as bolting it in..

Has anyone did a custom tank in trunk.. That would help with temp and traction.. Of course I would really only recommend it on a car that is used primarily for racing.. Would lose some trunk space..
