I just got the Roush axlebacks put on my v6 mustang, the sounds is great but there is now a fairly loud drone at ~1500-2000 rpm (which is cruising on the freeway speeds). Just be warned that you might see (well.. hear) the same thing ;)

Seems like the 1500-2000rpm drone is happening on a lot of these axle backs. Maybe it's the resonator?

I'm not sure, its still in there for mine. I was reading a different thread (http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12607) where a resonator tube was added, I messaged zackmd1 to see what the maths where for his resonator tube. The roush cans are different, but I think they are similar enough the same thing might work.

BTW the dealership wasn't helpful at all when I complained about the drone ;) I love the new sound, so I think I'll try a few things to fix the drone before giving up and going back to stock.

Personally, After installing the Roush exhaust I think it would have sounded better with just the resonator delete or H / X pipe install. But, I have a Roush RS and thought the Roush exhaust would be a great match.

Has anyone tried to just install the H or x pipe and not a muffler swap?

i had the roush axle backs installed last week and i definitely notice the drone you guys have been mentioning on the highway but it really doesnt bother me yet. i love the sound personally but one of my buddies said he thinks my car sounds like a ricer...to each his own...

Doesn't the Roush RS come with the Roush Axleback? from my reading around that was the only thing they did right? I'm curious if they did anything else of if the RS has the drone as well.
