I have the Roush axel back with a MRT h-pipe. It is extremely loud at WOT. If loud is what you're looking for, this is it.

I like that at stoplights, it's relatively quiet and a sleeper at idle, but at WOT all hell breaks loose and it screams like nothing else. Underpasses are a blast. I can cruise around and be relatively quiet if I need to except for startup which is a monstrosity when cold. Slowing down to a stop crackles and pops sounding mean as hell; ready to do it all over again.

I have this setup... Love every minute of it.

I'll say this much- if you're not open to having a loud exhaust, you won't like it.

It's a deep raspy exhaust, it's got a very unique sound. I know everyone says it doesn't drone, but around 1900-2100rpm if you hover around there, it has a slight drone for me. I usually shift at 2000 rpm in normal driving conditions so I barely hear the drone before the clutch is in.

It's an exhaust that'll make you cringe if you do a cold start at 4:00am, but will make you smile when it's warmed up and you're climbing past 2500 rpm. It echoes off buildings, trees, etc. - that's how loud it is.

Probably one of my favourite things about my V8.

That being said, the exhaust is totally manageable it terms of loudness. You'll be more "conscious" if how deep your foot is on the throttle, but it's still fun to have no matter what.

The x-pipe is a popular option too but I highly recommend the h-pipe over the x-pipe.

Here's a video I found online. It's the closest to what it sounds in real life.

I found a decrease in my mpg... But that's only because I love hearing it, so I'm always in the higher rpm range.

Since I swapped from my stock resonator to the H-pipe I noticed a very slight drop in low-end torque.

My MPG has been about the same, maybe slightly worse but that's due to me revving it out the odd time.

My question is how much drone is when cruising.
Currently I have only the axle back and it's quiet when cruising.

Like Stripes mentioned, there is a drone with the H-pipe that wasn't there with the axel back alone. I have an auto with 3.15 gears, and in normal mode it has a slight drone around 1500 to 2000 RPM. I also feel like the car lost some low end torque.

Is the loss of low end torque because of the exhaust being louder making you think the engine is working harder?

That's possible.
No. When you put on a muffler designed with less back pressure than the stock one you typically will loose some low-end torque.

I'm sure the loss in low-end torque is negligible at best. It probably makes up for itself in the upper ranges of the RPM band. The reality of the situation is, you spend more of you time in the lower ends and not the upper ends of the RPM band, so you become more aware of the low-end torque loss.

After a few weeks of driving it though, you'll get used to it. You'll know when your car starts to "pull" versus when it's "moving forward".

I had a drone and way too loud for me! Sold after three days on the car. OH by the way the person that bought them from me also took them off after a few days. I went to Ford Touring of which I'm happy with and he welded his stocks back on.

I have the Roush AB with the MRT H pipe resonator delete . This sounds great and I have no drone . IMHO this is the best sound
