Hi everyone,

So I have a v6 with stock GT 4-piston calipers and rotors on the front and the stock v6 setup on the rear. My question is if I could get away with a 13in rotor and keep the calipers? I would love to be able to shed some weight from the car and I know that if I were able to swap out the rotors to the stock 13in v6 rotors or even the Aerospace rotors, I would save a good bit of weight.

Is this possible or am I stuck using the 14in rotors?

I would imagine that physically it would fit.
But, you would lose 1/2" of contact patch at the top of the brake pad.
This would at the least groove the pad and you would also lose a portion of your braking power.
Another thought: I think the GT rotors are thicker than the v6, so pedal travel might be affected.

The only way to safely do it is to change the bracket that holes the caliper to the knuckle. Without that, you're going to have an inch on the top of the pads that is not swept, and the pistons won't be able to put even pressure on the pads. This could cause the pads to cave inwards like this - /\ - which is not what you want.

There is literally zero reason to do something like this without a properly designed bracket. You're taking a couple pounds, at most, of unsprung weight, and you're being very dangerous in doing so.

Buy real Bembo calipers with the radial mount and then you can do what you want. Wilwood radial mounts will also let you do that.

My recommendation would be to have have the driver lose 10 pounds. Safer and cheaper
