Drilled Rotors Question

Hey Guys,

So I put a set of drilled/slotted rear rotors on my car, pads were still good so I left them alone. For the first 100 miles or so is it pretty normal to get loud whistling noises? First time using a set and was wondering if anyone else could fill me in if this is normal. I called power stop, they told me it was most likely the zinc coating that was causing the noise and should go away after awhile.

I did follow their bedding procedure, any help appreciated.

I remember by buddy with a 350z had the same whistling noise with the drilled/crossed rotors

Yes, normal, I've had a few cars with drilled and slotted rotors and they all had a buzzing or whistling when hit hard.

Just to give everyone a heads up, found the cause of the problem. The plastic shield was slightly rubbing the rotor and I'm pretty sure the sound was only being attenuated more by the drilled portion.

Had to break out the rubber mallet and convince the splash shield to make more room for the new rotors. No noise.

I had the same issue, my splash shield was rubbing on the right rear rotor and causing a screeching sound. A couple hard pulls and it's now clear. No other sounds.
