So, this forum, and others, are great information resources - telling us what we need to know to order our cars, get them on time (hopefully), and drive them well. They are also great social hubs for organising meets as well as for simply anticipating the joys of ownership (I suspect the majority here are still ones without Mustangs rather than ones with Mustangs - perhaps I’m wrong by now).
A lot of the vital information on here can make one anxious though (car size, tyre grip, build quality etc), and apart from the joys of taking possession, first impressions, and doing mods, some might take us for a bunch of worriers. Yet, while forums are here to alleviate worries, I thought I’d start a thread of information dedicated to joy. It’s a bit frivolous, but what I’d like to know is where people are going to get most joy when driving their Mustang, and what music may accompany them.
The rules are simple: two tracks and two roads - that’s it. If people find this of interest, we might end up with a nationwide resource for getting the ā€˜thrill of Mustang driving’ right.

So, to begin: I’m in Hampshire/Surrey area (like a few others) and my two roads have to be:

1. the A3 through the Hindhead Tunnel - the longest road tunnel in the UK, and at full speed too. And the track: Van Halen, ā€˜Why Can’t this Be Love?’ (Sammy Hagar vocal) - showing my age

2. The South Harting Road (B2141) south through the South Downs (over in Sussex, but in the vicinity). And the track has to be Rainbow, ā€˜Since You’ve Been Gone’. Sad, I know….

Good thread. I'm going to hold back on any suggestions for now because I still have a few roads to try in this car.

It crossed my mind to recommend M25 Anticlockwise J10-J9 for SteveC - perhaps Road to Hell as a track :headbang:

I've never really been in to music but since I ordered my Mustang I have joined up to Spotify and much to the annoyance of my wife and son I've been refining my Mustang playlist. It started with mainly 60's and 70's rock and blues and now after 3 months of Mustang 5.0 V8 GT ownership who knows. If you can't help having a big grin when driving your Mustang then just see when happens when you play this list.

I've been aching for a chance to post this but please just remember I know even less about music then I know about cars...

In no particular order...

Any open road in clear or with traffic will do me...

I welcome your additions and deletions...

I've got 181 songs on my Spotify playlist that saw me through 3 weeks on Route 66 last year... I plan for them to also serve the Mustang well! Can't seem to copy/paste them here but Spotify URL here:

You guys need to get "Kickstart my heart" by Motley Crue on these playlists! It makes you want to drive like a bat out of hell

Hindhead Tunnel is a great shout, with Whole Lotta Rosie.

Hogs Back (northbound, from Farnham to Guildford), with Don't Stop Believin'.

At the end of the day, in this car, any road with any song is an epic ride ...

Erm.., being a bit of a numpty on the Spotify front, can you make a playlist to down load, or do you play this by Bluetooth? Off topic and apologies, I'll post my preferences later....

North East Area:

This is my ideal "day of driving" route, rather than a quick blast. 3 hours 20 minutes of driving in total so very much "make a day of it" sorta thing.

Starting at Durham you head over the A690 continuing toward Crook. Once in crook take the A689 all the way over the pennines toward Alston. The A689 is a 32 mile stretch of road that is fast and sweeping with some good "chill-out" areas through some small towns and villages along the way. As you can imagine, there is some beautiful scenery to gawk at as you're going over the Pennine mountains. Given this is a more chilled out section of road, I'd be putting on some French House like Esmarelda by Alexkid. A Beat you can drive too but at the same time calm and classy so I can soak everything in. Music like that in the bright sunshine is my weakness (no wonder I love Ibiza so much!)

Arrive in Alston for some fizzy pop and chips and then continue onto the A686 toward Penrith. This road gets crazy in places (see picture) - sharp turns, national speed limit for most of it, elevation changes are non-stop and, once again, beautiful scenery. This is where you can get a bit lairy :headbang: - black car, crazy road and some adrenaline, for this road I'd be breaking out Ace of Spades by Motorhead.

From there its the A66 -> A67 -> A688 past Barnard Castle, Bishop Aukland and Raby Castle to get back to Durham.

Of course, you can do the entire thing in reverse

Spotify is on-line and you can connect various devices and apps on the one account but only 1 at a time. Devices include web browser, pc, android, i-phone, tv (e.g. Samsung and others), a/v (e.g. Onkyo and others). I expect Sync 3 will login to Spotify directly.

You can use Spotify to listen to albums and organise your tracks which you can download over the internet as streaming or you can download the tracks to your device (where supported) so that you listen when you are off-line as well.

In the Mustang I use my Android Nexus 5 which is paired over Bluetooth with the Sync 2 for phone calls and media etc. When I select Nexus 5 as my audio source it automatically starts Spotify on my phone and starts playing my current Mustang playlist. If the tack is downloaded then it plays straight off my phone and if needed the track is downloaded using my mobile data allowance. The tracks are shuffled so I don't hear the same sequence each time.
