Ones that hammer in look to be the better bet of the two. There's occasional horror stories for both types of them flying off at speed and scraping up fenders. Seems more frequent for glued-on, and I can imagine the hammered ones to go bad not being properly applied. It is a long process that some may not see through fully.

Handful of people have them on here.

I had the "glue on" type (rimbladesusa.com)- actually still have them on one side. I decided one day to do a quick drive through wash to get some bird droppings off right away and the guy put me too close to the guide rails. They did the job of protecting my wheels, but were peeled off. Now I have to clean up the edge of the wheels on the driver side because it looks like I scraped them against curbs.

I will probably put them back on since they do offer protection, and with an all black wheel I like the silver lip that the guard gives.

The rim protector is behind the steering wheel.
