Afternoon gents, I’ve been picking at this fuel system for awhile and have gone a bit crazy and am wondering if this is an issue, or possible something that can just happen. Here’s the problem:
Installed a fuel system and on first startup my aeromotive regulator/ gauge was super steady. No vibration or “fluctuations” in fuel pressure. The system eventually began to have a leak, post checking for leaks and fixing said leaks the regulator still has a bounce and the return line is noticeably vibrating. The fuel lines are not touching anything or have any major kinks or bends… I’ll add videos. Any suggestions or ideas on what I may be dealing with? Appreciate the help

The first video is after pulling the boost reference and plugging it back in. The second is right after startup and third is showing the vibration in the lines, keep in mind I have been getting a p0456 evap (small leak) code. I don’t think this is the sprout or cause of the issue as the fuel system remains the same boost referenced or not.

You stated boost reference on and off makes no difference. So that’s ruled out. I’d first source the EVAP issue and just eliminate that possibility. To me it seems like a regulator issue, I’d probably swap it out with a new one.

His fuel pressure at the rails is steady, it’s definitely something either with the regulator or the return line. Regulator is only 6 months old and I know this because he bought my old fuel system. The FPR he is using was on my feed line to the rails thou and not on the return side.
@WonderDud Brandon was Aeromotive any help? When you installed the lines did you happen to clean the filters?

Aeromotive said maybe I wasn't getting enough flow to the regulator/ could be oversized for my application, but Im not sure I want to agree with that. No I hadn't pulled the filters thats something they said could be an issue aswell... maybe? Ill try that out next.

Your running the same pumps I originally was before I switched to the 285’s but you are only running two vs three like I was. So i doubt that is the issue but who knows. Did you hook the third up and see if it fixed the fluctuation on the FPR? I know we had talked about it the other day.

Didn't get the chance, i need to jumper the 6v signal from the fpdm on the controller and see what it does. Probably do it either duing lunch or right after work.

i dont have a fuel system so take this with a grain of salt. the needle at the top of the regulator adjusts pressure up or pressure down, have you tried changing it to see if it makes a difference? if you increase the pressure the regulator allows, and the bouncing gets worse, you dont have enough flow TO the regulator (i doubt it)
i know for a fact another member sprayed his regulator there at the top with soapy water and it bubbled like crazy. it's leaking at the top. the vendor said it's normal and perfectly acceptable on a fuel injected application but i disagree. they said if it was for a carbureted application, they would definitely have to seal it up somehow because they're so sensitive to vacuum.

just a thought

@Proshop, @WonderDud What spring is in the regulator? I know some of these come with 2 different springs, one for pressure below 75 PSI, and one for pressure above 75 PSI up to 150 I believe..

I’m pretty sure it’s a 30-75psi spring. It was working well for ProShop. I’d imagine it’s correct for the application

As Brandon said I would imagine it’s the 75 psi spring.
And did you also have it mounted where the gauge is horizontal like that?

Yes, he is using the FPR I was using on my feed line that went to the DI pump and then the fuel rails. He also has the smaller FPR that I used on the return side.

I see. I was thinking maybe it was fluttering because the needle wasn't submerged in the liquid
