I've just recently ran into a situation where I need a OBDII scan tool and I've never needed one and so, I've never researched them. There are so many, stand alone tools, bluetooth to phone or PC, hardwired to usb port of a notebook, etc. I don't know what to get.
For my current issue, my wifes Civic had a recall that reflashed the ECU, which now needs to relearn to have the monitors show ready. I thought she had driven it enough to get the monitors ready, but I took her car for a California smog test and it failed due to some of the monitors not showing ready.
I need a scan tool that will let me check that the monitors are in a ready state, so that I may take it to get tested and not pay $30.00 just to have it fail again. On top of that, a scan tool that will have the capabilities of helping me do more comprehensive testing, ever the need arises with my other cars.
Thanks in advance for any help.
