Sorry to hear that. What's up with the people's democratic republic of californiastan?
Same ol same ol, higher taxes than anyone in the country, higher house prices than anyone in the country, more and more restrictive gun laws all while letting more and more violent criminals out of prison early and/or changing violent crimes to slaps on the wrists:cheers:

The food, weather, and mountain roads are great though

Reason #426 to not want to live in California.
Jobs and weather are the only reason to live here. It is the stupid people that vote these asshats into office that make life so expensive for the working person. Don't get me started.

So I was trying to re-register my car today since my registration expires 12/12/16. However, I get notice that I can't re-register in California until my car gets fixed and taken off recall.

Worst yet...
RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available.

So now I'm stuck without a car until it gets fixed.:frusty:
WOW thats a bummer

Good ole Arkansas...re-registered mine yesterday morning. They don't even pretend to care here.

Right! I only consider 67% of California as communist. :D

You didn't have issues re-registering, did you? I recall you getting your car before me if I'm not mistaken?
Well son of a B***

I took delivery of my car January 22nd. My car was also up for renewal but I had not took the time to go down and handle it yet. Last time I tried online I don't think I was able to renew. i used to work for DMV and I know the renewal letters sometimes generate before the DMV system actually generates the fees for the car. Letters will go out 90 days before, but the system only accepts fees up to 75 days prior to the expiration. I decided to see if I could debunk this recall blocking the renewal theory.

End result is I am out $509 dollars now thanks to icormba . It allowed me to renew online with no problems. At least I can write it off on my taxes. Merry Christmas

So if I understand you correctly, you weren't told specifically that your registration issue was due to the recall?
Correct. I was redirected to a page with the URL to... https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ and assumed that was the issue.

Probably jumped the gun on my part. I'll know more when go in tomorrow. I still can't register online. Geesh... I just hope I don't have any warrants out!! ;)

Car has higher than normal chance of springing a leak that can cause it to catch fire...how great a risk? Higher than normal. Enough said.

Ford acknowledges being responsible.

State says that car cannot be on the road until it is no longer at higher than usual risk of springing a leak and catching on fire.

State is wrong?

True enough, a visit to the DMV will likely prove the computer's response invalid. However, it would be nice if all states withheld registration. Then maybe Ford would get off it's ass and make bringing the cars up to the required standard a priority since they actually do have the solution on hand but are using it to pump out more cars...

2 others here in California where able to register with one of them doing it just hours ago. 1 other got further into the registration than I did. So I am now assuming it has nothing to do with the recall at this point.

I've honestly never heard of such a thing?? Even for California. Every make and model of auto manufacturers have recalls. What gives or sets precedents to make this decision. My 15 GT has a door latch recall that I'm more worried about than my oil line on my 350.
I look forward to following this thread and see how it goes.
