A local shop is quoting me 1k to install my h&r lowering springs, camber bolts, and rear camber arm adjustment kit.. this does not include alignment. Is this a normal going rate price? I was expecting like 500..

The springs are easy, but the camber arm adjustment kit is a PITA. I put the BMR camber arm lockout kit on mine and the driver’s side is more difficult because of the fuel filler tube. Not sure on the camber bolts, as I’ve never done those. Having said that, I’d say $500 seems more reasonable for a shop experienced in S550s. Tell them NGOT8R said that price is higher than a Giraffe’s bOOty, lol.

Haha dude I was thinking it was high as hell! I mean ive had a buddy install some springs with me on my old non magnaride car and it cost me like like 150 bux to rent to shop lift and tools. He did it for a sandwhich and pack of beer lol. I watched plenty of youtube vids and it doesnt seem like a hard install. Not sure why theyre charging so much.

Most shops have a work hour book they go by. So if the book says it'll be a 4 hr job, regardless if it takes them 2 hrs, they charge you the time in the book. That's not all garages, but it assures them they are getting paid what the should, especially if they run into problems. All depends on the garage. Some are worked hours Vs book hours.

This happens in a lot more fields than you think it does. HVAC is definitely one of them.

I understand that if theyre going by repairing issues or doing big jobs.. this is just swapping some springs. Im just gonna do it myself instead of getting ripped off for 1k.

Money is money to shops. I feel the same way though. I will do everything I can myself, unless it's something I can't wait for or don't have the super specialty tools I can't rent.
