It's funny how the cheapest quotes are coming from California, which I've always associated with being more expensive.

Was this a national chain, or a "Jim bobs discount exhaust"?

Maybe I need to find the guy that works out of the back of his trailer but has a lift in his front yard.
National chains are a big no no for me personally. I went to an independent performance exhaust shop called Mikes Performance Exhaust

I went to an independent muffler shop in Downey, CA in an auto repair complex.

Getting the muffler tips aligned perfectly is what takes all the time. I did mine with a friend that has a lift and it took at least an hour and I still don't have the tips aligned perfect.

Just messaged the shop that did my exhaust, they said they charge $40 for a basic axelback install. Unfortunately you are about 3,000 miles away

I don't know how there's so much disparity in the pricing. I wonder if that was assuming a bolt-on exhaust. The price you and myjaja (first page) paid sounds about right, but I doubt I'll find that around here.

Possibly, I didn't specify what type. I think you're best bet is going to a regular mechanic, should be able to do it for a lot cheaper.

I tried a few of those. They are the shops that told me "if it doesn't bolt on, I don't want to touch it". There may still be a golden goose out there, though.

Seeing how we have a good exhaust thread going. I thought I'd share the system I got for a steal. $374.99 directly from slponline.com

You be the judge but it sure looks like a clone of the $550 Roush system to me.

I'll probably make another thread with before/after vids once I get them installed, but this will do for now.

Last two pics are blurry, but I only had a 50mm lens, and limited space. The tips look scuffed in the pics, but they are shiny and polished in person.

The perforated holes look white, so these may have some kind of packing in them while I'm not sure if the Roush does. SLP is known for using good quality ceramic packing in their bullet mufflers, though.

EDIT: Did a little research. Apparently these are different than the Roush in that the SLP has (ceramic?) Packing while the Roush has none. Judging from the GT vids I've seen (can't find v6) the SLP's will be noticeably quieter but also very smooth sounding with no rasp. Might still be a worthy alternative, especially with an x-pipe. I'll be the guinea pig

If they say that go somewhere else because they are garage mechanics you dont want touching your ride anyway.
