Has anyone's rear view camera looked like below? If you have what did the fix end up being. This started yesterday afternoon when I backed out the parking spot at work. I plan to take it to the dealer when I have a chance.

I would say it's something in the headunit or with a connection to the headunit since even the parking assist lines are affected. I would recommend disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then see if that fixes it. If not then it's dealer time.

I had the exact same problem. Took to dealership and they found the wires inside the harness to the camera had broken (due to the opening and closing of the trunk lid). They replaced it under warranty. Evidently it is a common problem.

Looks like I will have the dealer check into it when I do an oil change next week. Since it could be camera or wiring, I will let them figure it. Thanks to the AC Evaporator issue (already replaced once), I bought an extended warranty, so this should be covered.

May be too much trouble, but if you have it can you post the paperwork showing they replaced the harness? I have only seen posts about people complaining the dealer repaired the wires because of the labor to replace the harness. Some of those problems came back again, supposedly due to the nature of the repairs. An example of a dealer replacing the harness would help others convince their dealer to do that.

I've noticed my backup camera going wonky or total black when I'm leaving work. I assumed it was heat. Leaving the car parked in the sun all day. As the temps heat up, I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I have that problem too but is too sporadically and I'm out of time to go and see the dealer.

Just checked the paperwork and was surprised to see that you are correct. The service agent had told me they had replaced the harness but after checking the actual paperwork I see that they just repaired it. Guess I will be having a little chat with my service agent! :paddle: Anyway, here is the paperwork from my work order. So far I haven't had any further issues with the camera.

That harness not only will affect the camera - but it will also render the trunk latch inoperable, disable trunk lighting OR kill the Sirius satellite antenna on convertibles.

It’s a known issue with all 2015-2017’s; the harness is too short which is why it eventually breaks. The Ford repair is the correct procedure - splice, lengthen and reloom it. This repair can also be accomplished as a DIY instead of visiting Dealer if familiar with splicing or wire repairs.

This is caused by a wire issue at the cable tie just under the trunk lid lip. When the trunk is open the picture is fine, when down, the picture is wonky. I used a little duct tape to keep the wire straight when the deck is closed and the picture is fine. I have an appointment with the dealer later this week to get it fixed.

It could also be a defective camera. Mine was replaced last Winter under warranty and was temperature related.
