In the Stereo Info sticky thread, it lists the rear speaker sizing as 6.5". On Crutchfield.com, they list the sizing as 6.75". I was wondering if anyone has installed 6.75" speakers in the rear, or if anyone who has cut the stock speakers and used them as brackets for 6.5" speakers, would be able to estimate if 6.75" speakers would fit installing the speakers alone. (Not using stock speakers as bracket).

Thanks for any help!

I just purchased the 6.75 Rockford Fosgate speakers, components for front and composites for the rear. I'll be trying the install (hopefully) this week. I'll report back on how it goes.

Those were the exact speakers I was looking at. Are you installing an amp also?

When I installed my kicker speakers in my ecoboost it was 6.5" in all away around and cut the existing speakers for brackets, worked perfect.

Installed!! The rear bolts holding down the speaker rings was a B*&%$ to get at but I was able to do it with a low profile ratchet and a 9/32 bit. The speaker adapters that Crutchfield sends with the speakers work, but only with modification. The brackets are for 6.5 speakers and these are 6.75 inch. I had to use a drill to open up the mounting spots for the speaker by about 1/8 of an inch and remove the internal tabs with snips and sand them down smooth. They hold the speaker very well even with the modification (see second picture). I used speaker gasketing on the metal between the bracket and on the bracket in between it and the speaker. It is sealed very well. I made the connection like a Y with two new speaker wires, one running to the speakers and one running to my AudioControl LC2i active LOC with AccuBass to run my 12" sub, which will be installed this weekend. All wire connections are soldered, shrink wrapped and re-wrapped with electrical tape. I used fatmat to sound deaden the rear deck. I have the following tips:

1) Just buy the 6.5 inch speakers and it'll be easier. I did the 6.75 just to challenge myself and to let y'all know if they fit. I'm not sure how different the sound would be from the standard fit.
2) Take your time and seal things well and it'll sound great.
3) Do some damn yoga first. My 31 year old, 6', 195 pound body did not like being hunched over in the back seat for hours doing all of this work.

Overall, I am very happy with the sound of the Rockford Fosgate 6.75 inch R1675X2 components. They do get louder than the factory. The mids are good, the highs are insanely crisp, but there is little bass. I don't care as my sub should take care of that. I used to have the treble set at +5 but now it's at +1 and that's without replacing the fronts with the Rockford Fosgate R-1675S components which will be coming up next.

Can you post up more details about how you tapped in your AudioControl LC2i active LOC? Like how you wired it all up and where you mounted or hid it? Any pics or diagrams would be helpful. I'm thinking of doing the same with same unit, first time I came across a thread where someone actually has started such an install with it!

After living with the new speakers for a while and playing around with them, I've decided they really need an amp. They sound good up to about 50% volume but after that they distort. My Pioneer GM-A4604 amp will be delivered today. It has 40w per each of its four channels, which is the exact RMS wattage for these speakers. I'll be using the speaker level inputs on the amp and tapping the rears for the LC2i to send to my subwoofer. I'm glad I ran my 4 gauge power wire to a distribution block! I'll be needing to power three deviced now. I've drawn up several different plans as to how I want to finish this and once it's complete I'll take pictures of the results.
