Not sure if anyone else’s rear seats squeak when going over speed bumps or up drive ways but my 16 and 18 do. I just greased the latches in my 18 hopefully to stop the noise. Noise goes away when I drop the rear seats and seems like with the wear on the latches to lock the seats in place that is where it’s originating from. To me it seems this may from the body/chassis flexing. If anyone has had this issue and resolved it by stiffening/bracing chassis please let me know. I think maybe something like the s197 boss 302 rear brace would fix but I can’t seem to find anything like that for this chassis.

thoughts?

UPDATE: Greased the latches that holds up the rear seats in their up position. I hit the male and female portion of it and absolute quiet going over road imperfections, up and down driveways. Looks like that’s the band-aid for now. Next step, without a cage, stop it from flexing.

I’ve been dealing w this exact issues for a long time. I was told it was either a bad weld and the only way to tell is if the back seat was removed... or the other possibility was the rear seats rubbing cause the creaking noise when the body of the car flexes. Apparently at the dealership, this has been showing up.

For the longest time I thought the sound was coming from the suspension... i also had my trunk packed with equipment and removing some of the stuff touching the back of the seat in the trunk helped.

try adjusting the rear seat where you can and also test it with people sitting in the back seat. Their weight may prevent the seat from moving... hopefully that is all it is for you. It’s frustrating, but keep searching. If you find anything, definitely let us know.

Yup same situation as you. Sound goes away when my youngest sits in the back, and when my golf bag is in the trunk pressed against the passenger rear seat it goes away. I was thinking it was plastic panels in the 18 and started to place felt tape in the area and same results. Sqeeeeeeeeak. Hoping today’s first drive the sound is minimized and or gone, it will at least tell me it’s origin.

No squeaks in mine, but I keep the seat behind mine open for "spirited listening" of the Shaker Pro system.

I do the same in the wife’s 16, really helps the subwoofers response. My 18 I drop the rear when it’s too cold to drop the windows to listen to my exhaust :)

Sometimes I get a rattle or clicking sound from the passenger back seat area, which seems to go away if I fold the seat down. Maybe the seatback latch is my problem, or maybe the seatback is rubbing on something else...
