Before any mods I noticed a REALLY slight creak noise coming from what sounded like the rear passenger side deck lid/corner area after not even 1K miles. This would only happen when starting from a dead stop. It seems to have gotten worse over time...from the point of "not a big deal" to being pretty f'n annoying with radio off. It now happens under almost any suspension articulation or when starting or stopping. I've since put springs and cradle bushing lockouts on the car. Seemed way worse with the cradle bushing lock outs installed but I removed them temporarily and it's still there pretty bad.

I don't think it's a suspension issue, but I think any further stiffening of the suspension exacerbates the issue. I had my dad drive the car and I sat in the back seat, even laid halfway in the trunk with the back seat down (starting and stopping in a neighborhood) to try and isolate the sound but it just sounds like what I'd call "body creak" form the entire rear deck lid area and quarter window areas.

Has anyone else experienced this? Solved this? Had a dealer address this?

Car only has 8K miles on it...

A few months back I recall reading about someone with a creak noise from the rear of their car, it ended up being the tail light housings rubbing on the body, and the noise being transmitted through everything.

Something to check out at least.

I have exactly the same issue(creak from passenger side quarter panel area), it happens 1) when starting from a dead stop. 2) when pressing/releasing the gas pedal at cruise speed. 3) when slowly going over uneven surface. Sounds like to me that it happens whenever the car body flexes. took the car to dealer few months ago and they couldn't find the problem, they took the plastic panel off but couldn't put it back on properly, I had to re-adjust it when I got home. They wanted me to leave the car with them for a few days so that they could work on it and I said no because I don't trust them.

I came across this while I was searching for the problem: <http://forums.corral.net/forums/gt-sohc/443264-i-found-damn-squeak.html> looks like it although it is a completely different car.

Interesting, I'll give it a look but I really think mine is isolated to the rear deck lid/quarter window areas.

I'm going to check the spot mentioned in that thread, thanks!

If anyone else has it or finds the culprit/solves this please post up.

You guys ever figure out what it was? I'm having a very similar issue and it's driving me nuts!

I think I have the same creaking sound. It is coming from the passenger rear side somewhere but definitely not suspension related.

I hear the creak when starting off the line or over bumps in slow speed. probably other locations but I dont recall right at this moment.

We had the car in lift and they moved the rear suspension violently by swinging from the sway bar (suspension probably traveled good 1~1.5 in up and down) with ZERO noise coming from suspension.

I wonder if anybody figured this out? With stiffer spring it seems more pronounce than before.

I got so fed up yesterday and decided to do a simple test.

I moved things around in the rear and the liner over the rear seat (between rear seat and the rear window) seems to make the same creaking noise when I pressure different locations.

I folded the rear seats down and drove around... NO CREAK.

I believe the liner in the rear is rubbing against the rear seat. I shimmed the liner with a folded piece of paper and it reduced the sound.

I will upload some pic once I successfully fix it.,

I have been in, including my own, five (5) S550s with the same issue - even some in totally stock form. It is the same noise that my driver seat makes when my fat ass sits in it and/or moves around in it. You'd think, like every other car manufacturer, Ford could produce a seat that doesn't moan when I'm in it. I reserve that sound for women...

Well I put the seats down and the creaking stopped too. At least I know it's not the suspension now. I didn't check around back there to see what was causing the creaking. I can barely get my ass back there. Please update us if you come up with a fix.

I've had creak sounds since I installed my leather seat covers, which happens when leather rubs on leather. I also think the leather is rubbing on the decklid. But nothing when I had my cloth seat covers installed.
