Just realized the title of this thread....should get some funnies :headbonk::lol:

I am no drivetrain expert so I was hoping you guys could tell me a little about the rear end in these cars being GT PP. When I turn sharp into my driveway i can feel the rear end almost feel shifty and the inside rear tire will kinda spin on the loose gravel at the base of my drive. Are these things pretty pretty positive when Locking or unlocking? It reminds me of a Detroit Locker we used to have in a old LT1 camaro back in the day. I know its a IRS compared to a live axle but I was wondering how that all really works? I have never spent much time messing with drivetrain or suspension...always been a motor guy so I just want to learn a little. Educate me!

The GT Performance Package comes with a Torsen differential which is a gear-type diff as opposed to the normal clutch-type Traction Loc that comes in the standard Mustangs. Without getting too technical, it is generally considered a more aggressive differential and many people have noticed noises or clunks when making tight corners at low speeds such as in a parking lot.

Ok that answers my question. It feels sturdy and I have no complaints. I like the ratcheting/clunky feeling more than I guess a clutch type. Good deal! Thanks Grimace427!!

Which is weird, since I haven't noticed any kind of locking behavior that would be considered rough or aggressive so far, regardless of driving speeds. I'm a big fan.

The 2015 I test drove had the PP and at first I didn't notice it either until we went maybe a 1/4 mile down the road to a gas station(was empty while on the lot). Pulling into the station we could hear the inside rear tire skipping just a bit. Afterward nothing really noticeable.

It reminds me of my drift/rally-beemer which has a torsen-differential as well, and you feel it in very tight corners indeed (like when you make a right-turn at the traffic-light-tight). Takes a few feet to actually lock. Haven't done any extreme driving yet so can't tell how it behaves on track/tight empty wet roads (still taking it easy :) ).

I am ordering a GT Premium (non PP) because I want an automatic transmission (3.55). This car will serve double duty - a daily driver and a weekend aggressive touring car. So I would like to upgrade the suspension and drivetrain so that it incorporates the PP features. I can add the strut tower brace, the black brace connecting firewall to the strut towers, and Steeda front and rear sway bars. The car will also be lowered with an Eibach Sport Kit. But what about the 3.73 Torsen differential? Is there anyone of the forum with experience in changing out the differential? What is involved and how much will it cost? Thanks in advance!
