Powerstop doesn't look much different than OEM.
Is there really a performance difference between the two? Is there quality control that one has that the other doesn't?

No other than the pads. I rebuilt and powder coated mine. I installed Power Stop Z26 pads a year ago and they're great. After the initial bedding I had brake dust for two days and that was it. If I track the car I change pads but for aggressive street use the Z26 pads are great.
