odd.. usually if you blow a head gasket it will make the oil milky also .. so what you where seeing was steam i guess.

and you will eat coolant also

It's a blown head gasket. Just look under the car the next day to see if there's any oil leak and take a picture for the dealership. They'll get it done under warranty
Not necessarily. Assuming stuff like that throws people into a downward spiral and helps no one.

OP - you need to check the oil. This can be done simply by removing the oil fill cap. If the insides of that look like a chocolate milkshake then you have a blown head gasket because coolant is mixing with your oil.

you can also check/monitor your coolant levels over a period of time. You may have a pinhole leak in one of the returns that when you depressurize the system (by letting off the gas) it squirts out and hits your exhaust. if you can next time try to catch the smoke and smell it. Does it smell sweet? Does it smell like rubber?

You may also have some serious condensation coming off your AC unit. Theres a few things but crawling under the car and looking for wet spots will be a great start after confirming your oil looks normal.
