Anyone else experience this?

I received a $750 check from my Ford dealer today (it’s a legit check not a marketing ploy) that stated I qualified for an additional rebate from my mustang purchase.

My bank accepted and deposited the check without question.

I was provided zero information on what the rebate qualifications were or how it applied to me 9 months after purchase. Merry Xmas to me?

Thursday morning, New Years Eve, @ 8:35 am:

Repo truck shows up with a short fat guy toting a sawed off shot gun and a stubby cigar. He hooks up to your car as you are bolting out the door to confront this fat SOB and find out what the hell he is doing?
As you get your first few syllables out, he spins around and hands you a envelope... you open it and your name/address is at the top of a letter from a law firm in Dearborn, Michigan... the letter is legal proof that you sold your car for $750.00.

And you were just telling your wife that 2020 can't get any frickin' worse........... well, you were wrong!

Is it possible you qualified for a rebate that the dealership forgot to give you at time of purchase and is just now realizing you should have received it? That happened to me when I bought my F150. I caught mine myself though. Got a check 2 months later because they didn't apply the rebate I should have received. I'm sure thats what happened. They were probably going through a backlog of paperwork and caught it.

After thinking about it a bit more my assumption is the dealer was audited and was made aware of their error and needed to make due on the incentive.

I wouldn't spend that $$ for at least 3 weeks. Let it "settle" in your account.

I got similar (but only 500) on one of the explorer sports we bought, called the dealer to verify and they explained that it was in fact legit and we cashed that bitch...

...call em up and ask!

^^^ THIS ^^^ No dealer would voluntarily give the customer 750 bucks out the goodness of their heart 9 months after the purchase unless they were forced to.

This sorta happened to me . Ford showed up at my work and offered a 500 or 750 "rebate" if I test drove a Fusion . I was buying my car like the next day . Whatever "paperwork" didn't clear in 24 hours and I got a check a week later for the rebate .

I got the same end of the year Ford promotional rebate on my 2020 Explorer St purchased in 12/20 . It took about four months before I received it. The dealer had told me to expect it from Ford, not them, and it would take a few months or them to process.

Similar story with an Explorer we bought in 2002. 3 months after purchase, a $700 rebate check shows up out of the clear blue. Guess they've been doing that for a while.
