Looks like it's got the Black Eco-Boost Performance Pack Wheels on it...
I think this is the first red 'vert spotted?
The way they are driving this around it seems more like advertising than testing
Edit: oops just saw Topnotch posted it first......![]()
Looking at these Pics and after thinking about it, My guess is that from the Design of the Bumper/Diffuser, Originally the Entire Diffuser was Supposed to be Painted Black on Base Models. I say that because the "Lip" that Continues from the Side Blade/Rocker Panels through the Rear Bumper are Obviously There and there is a Clear Delineation from the Bumper Surface and the Diffuser formed by the Ridge that comes from the "Lip" at the Outer Ends. I don't know why they would have decided to just paint it All One Color. The cost to paint that section Black couldn't have been enough for it to have been the Bean Counters that cut that step. Maybe they were afraid of Backlash from Mustang Enthusiasts after the "Black Plastic Diaper" Incident of 2010? Whatever it is it Looks CHEAP!Here are some photos from the 2014 Dallas Autoshow. This is the Race Red with performance package (notice those Brembos and rotors) This is also , probably one of their prototypes
my guess is this car is one of the base GT models .. It might have the performance package based on the wheels and the size of brakes I see but also keep in mind, these were photos of a vehicle from March this year and is obviously a preproduction vehicle. I don't think I saw the toggle switches on the center stack. see what is comes up with in the configurator or build but also note it also states that picture shown is of a preproduction as wellLooking at these Pics and after thinking about it, My guess is that from the Design of the Bumper/Diffuser, Originally the Entire Diffuser was Supposed to be Painted Black on Base Models. I myself hate how this "diffuser" looks! I'm planning on getting it vinyl wrapped since it looks like it's removable. I did want to get the Premium literally just for that, but I'm not a fan of leather or unnecessary weight.Looking at these Pics and after thinking about it, My guess is that from the Design of the Bumper/Diffuser, Originally the Entire Diffuser was Supposed to be Painted Black on Base Models. The full body-colored insert is most likely a marketing move to provide a big enough visual distinction between the regular and premium models. The mold's design is standard fare for a modern "fake diffuser" element (from the flares that frame the border, to the fins and even the reverse light treatment; like a smashed F430's if you try hard enough), and the paint treatment on these things can really distinguish its down-the-road-graphic (DRG) effect. The rear has a conservative looking DRG when it's body colored, while having a layered black/body color diffuser creates a complex and more sporting DRG.Looking at these Pics and after thinking about it, My guess is that from the Design of the Bumper/Diffuser, Originally the Entire Diffuser was Supposed to be Painted Black on Base Models. Of course there won't be toggle switches because that Mustang is a Base and is equipped with cloth Recaro seats. The Base also doesn't get the diffuser because it only comes with the Premium as stated in the Order Guide. This car was used for a whole bunch of Auto Shows and was shown in depth in this video.. [ame].As I stated before... the pictures are of a preproduction car.... look at the interior photo I posted... zoom in on the center stack and you can see that there are no toggle switches next to the start button rather push buttons... the mustang design is not even finalized yet so we are all gonna have to wait till this happens and we will finally see the final specs and body of the car.... don't you think Ford is actually using the build early to get an insight of what people are wanting? Sure seems that way

uhm, it is the performance package that adds the rear diffuser though along with the toggle switches and, the car I took photos of did not have the recaros in it what is even more confusing it had the performance package wheels and obviously the brembo brakes, true that the premium does get you the switches but adding the performance package is it press button for the different modes? that car does not correlate to the current package especially with the rear diffuser but the spoiler is deletedOf course there won't be toggle switches because that Mustang is a Base and is equipped with cloth Recaro seats. Ford did split the diffuser between the Base and Premium. If you look at the order guide, you'll notice that on the Premium EB and GT the rear diffuser is included. On the breakdown of the Performance Package, the rear diffuser is not mentioned. It really sucks though because it looks awesome on the car with or without actual function.I stand corrected on the recaros.. perhaps that was the same car now that I compared the video to my photos... but the rear diffuser still doesn't correlate to the performance package unless they really split the difference from a base package with that intent

I agree, it looks good regardless but I also like the fact that there are specific dissimilarities between packages, it makes total sense on that, even the wheels, having the black also hints that you have a performance package. alot of people are hating the fact of having the body color rear end though with their packages they picked... it looks good but the contrasting does look better but that's what you pay for obviously. in your opinion though, what do you think of the ingot silver Mustang having the black rims for the Gt premium & performance package? I kinda think it accentuates the sportinesss of the car actually but I am getting mixed feelings about that from some of my buddies, I kinda wanted the brushed aluminum or nickel look on the rims or even a different spoke style... what's your take on this?Ford did split the diffuser between the Base and Premium. I was thinking the same thing too but too many people bickering about the wheels to some aspect I understand, I mean though comparing it to the other rim styles the black ones actually stand out.. I did not like much of the other selections at all but the ecoboost rims kinda look like the old GT style rims we have seen in the pastI honestly think that Ingot Silver looks amazing on this car.. in certain lighting. The PP wheels, in my opinion, look great in every color. A lot of the shots taken of the Mustangs equipped with the PP are not with the greatest quality cameras or lighting. I'm sure once people take delivery and see the car and wheels for themselves, a whole new love for them will emerge. However, I do think that if this wheel came in the Gunmetal finish found on the current model Track Pack, the car would look absolutely stunning.
