Quick question about compounding/polish procedure.

Hello,

This is my first time correcting paint, and I have every step covered but I just have one question for you professionals out there. After compounding and buffing, what do you do to prep for polish? Do you rewash the entire car? Use some sort of spray? Or simply wipe the car off with MF? Any input is appreciated!

You should work on a section at a time and wipe off before the stuff dries.
Some quick detailer spray should help removing the stuff.

What makes you think you need to compound? Try the polish first and if that doesn't give you the level of correction you want you can always get more aggressive. I use something like CarPro Eraser before starting to compound/polish, after every section to check my work, and a final wipe down before applying the LSP (sealant, wax, etc.). If you do need to compound, either wash those mf towels before using them to remove polish residue or use different ones altogether.

I bought the car used, and it has swirl marks all over it from machine washes, but yeah I'll try to use polish by itself first. About the CarPro Eraser, could I just use some diluted isopropyl alcohol instead?

That's definitely a more cost effective option. I've read that 10-25% final concentration is a good safe zone
