My question is about Fords clear-coat and the consensus on whether the new 6G CC appears to be on the "soft side" or more on the "hard side"?

My current 2010 Nissan Maxima is a Crimson Black color which is a lot like a black cherry color. It's a gorgeous color but because the clearcoat is soft it tends to pick-up and show the dreaded swirls marks much easier which darker colored cars are notorious for.
This in turn requires more detail work via the DA, cutting pad, and compound to keep it swirl free.

It's thin and pretty hard. I have a black one, and aside from the dealer putting very faint swirls on one little section the size of a 8 1/2 x 11 paper (you couldn't see it until you use a high powered flash light) and a scratch on the back due to transport straps. Very hardy paint.

Ford CC is generally pretty hard.

As for keeping it swirl free, proper washing and drying will correct this issue for you and avoid the need to polish often reducing your CC every single time you do.
