I have been looking to get a set of matte black fr500 wheels in 17" because they'll match my gt350 wheels nicely. I saw a guy on facebook running these...

http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-fr500-wheel-17x9.html
Back Spacing: 6.2" (158mm) Offset: +30mm (1.2")

Only problem is they are not matte black all around..... from his pics they look like they fit well and stay decently in the wheel well. So I found these.....

http://wheelreplicas.com/1994-2004-...-fr500-style-wheel-17x9-94-04-wheel-replicas/

BACKSPACE: 5.95 inch OFFSET: +24 millimeters

I would honestly prefer these being that they're 17x10.5....

BACKSPACE: 6.82 inch OFFSET: +27 millimeters

I just don't want to get something that won't work or hangs out too far from the wheel well. Can someone help me interpret what this backspacing and offset means?

The last one will probably poke pretty badly. I have 10.5's on the rear with 305's on them and they poke maybe 3-4mm and im at +52mm(50 or 52 cant remember). 27 is far too little offset for a 10.5.

The wider the wheel the more offset it needs if you want to keep it tucked well. That's why that 9" wheel works well with +30.

Agree I have 9 x 35mm fronts and they tuck a little.

10 x 41mm rears and they are perfect.

My 9's IIRC are +22 from Vossen and they ON THE DOT for fitment haha. Anything less and they'd poke.

Remember OP, you can always bring the wheel out with spacers, but bringing it in...not so easy.

Here are the wheels on WR for FR500's that are meant for s197/s550's. They only come in 18", but will give you the offset you need.

Front 18x9 +30mm
