If you're worried about a tune, just wait until FRPP puts theirs out. Look at the ST cars, they have power packs with bolt ons and a tune.
FRPP is not Ford. FRPP's "warranty" is their own and not your factory warranty. FRPP will not protect you from being denied a warranty claim anymore than any other tuner.

Really?... Please explain how I am completely wrong.

On this car you can add an intake without tuning because it is speed density. The computer will compensate for the extra air on that end, however when you change the exhaust, especially a catless downpipe, you are allowing the turbo to spin more freely. The computer will not be able to control the boost as easily and you WILL get boost spikes and creep if you stay with the stock tune. Reason why is because the computer is set to hit a specific WGDC (Wastegate Duty Cycle). It will hit its intended target, but the problem is when you do flow mods it takes less WGDC to hit the same amount of boost. This is how the computer controls boost. It's the same on almost every turbocharged car that boost is control electronically.

When you boost spike the computer can not compensate for the extra air fast enough, puts in the same amount of fuel... do the math. More air with only the same amount of fuel will lean out the mixture. A mix that is too lean will cause detonation which will ventilate your block.
QFT. Lots of people on the mazdaspeed platform popped with bolt ons and no tune, staying in the 250whp range. Tune cars with the same mods hit 330+, reliably.

Wow, is it just the 6G forum or all Forums in general?

Anyhow...
If you have concerns about voiding your warranty here's how you get around that:
1. Don't do anything until the warranty is expired.
2. Buy a vehicle with no intent to USE the warranty.
3. Buy a used vehicle out of the warranty period.
4. Don't be stupid.

I go with #4.
Here's how IT works:
-Buy the car you want with the warranty desired.
-Mod it as YOU seem fit and save your receipts/old parts.
-DO NOT post anything on social media, forums or the internet where you are doing street racing, off-roading, head-to-head drag racing, dyno runs or videos of you in a parking lot doing donuts.

Now, should you have a warranty issue for something like a fender fitment, paint issues or electrical - the CAI, Downpipe, Aftermarket exhaust and tune you installed will have NOTHING to do with the warranty - ever. Look up the Mangnuson-Moss Act. You can only void your warranty for racing/offroad/abuse. You can void the warranty for parts that you modified or replaced - replace the intake, you no longer have a warranty for intake related parts.

Should you have a CAI, Downpipe, Aftermarket exhaust and tune and you go in for an everheating issue, NOW you will have to justify that these parts had nothing to do with the overheating issue, and you will probably be forced to pay a diagnostic fee as well. You COULD put the old stuff back on to test, or just fight it out. Your call.

And remember, each time the PCM is flashed, it enables a counter that shows the tech the number of times your PCM was flashed. 1 or 2 times? Sure, standard for a new auto. 5+ times? You're most likely flashing it with a tuner and now they know. They also know your top speed, maximum RPM's and other delicate items. EVEN IF you flash it back to stock before bringing it to the dealer - which I recommend as MANY dealers like to update the PCM flash as part of a service call.

Enjoy...

who said this car was speed density?

That's where I came from. Owned a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. Nearly identical platform.

MMR and Airaid have both said it's speed density. Also there is no maf sensor.

Can somebody explain to me what the speed density mean? I'm new to modding cars.

Thought your username looked familiar. You were on MSF right?

And from what I have seen, you have had the most educating posts on this thread. Plenty productive in my eyes. Lol

Cleaned up. Any further name calling is going to be met with infractions. Enough bickering and let's get this back on topic.

I stand corrected. I always assumed they were genuine parts similar to Mazdaspeed parts.
