I’m fairly new to owning an s550, curious what that part is behind the hose. It seems to have the slightest amount of oil or maybe grease around the base, Is that normal? I’m having a hard time searching on google what this is called. Car runs perfect so it’s mainly out of curiosity… I noticed while looking under the hood the other day. Thank you for any feedback, I hope this weeks been good to you :)

It looks like the connector for the Variable Cam Timing (VCT) solenoid.

As for the leak, I suspect that might be a bit of oil getting past the o-ring. In the photo, it does not look like a great amount. For now, I'd continue doing what you're doing: perform routine checks, maybe take the occasional photo to monitor to see if the condition develops further.
