I have a C7 and I like it but my 2007 Mustang GT is nimbler. Which is why I have a GT350 "on order" (I am on the waiting list to be on a waiting list more or less).

BTW the dealer checked the diff fluid and did the TSB on the oil fill, all right away and gave me a loaner for the day.

for this amount you can get a decent European/German car. Just saying it ....

If you go online to consumeraffairs dot com, and search "bmw", you will be astounded by the most horrifying stories that occurred to people who bought new or used beamers. you will be in shock. Just like someone else mentioned earlier, these cars are repeatedly in the shop and usually the owner has to pay to fix the repairs and the cost is in the thousands. the auto maker will deny [FONT=&quot]warranty[/FONT] claims and even deny a problem exists.

These cars have failing timing chains (bmw mini) and all kinds of leaks, faulty electronics, a long list of embarrassing problems that would never occur in a typical bread and butter car. Do not EVER be jealous when you see someone driving a BMW. go to websites with actual owners and you will see the reality. it seems like they are engineered to be sent to the shop for expensive repairs. the truth is, i have genuinely seen bmw's on the side of the road pretty often.

On one occasion, (and I am not making this up) I saw a new top of the line bmw which had to be towed from the front of a buy buy baby store. I stood there wondering why a car like that would need to be towed. (I witnessed this just a few years ago.) Brand new car needing to be towed. And when they towed his beamer, they were using a flat bed and had a very hard time trying to not scratch the bottom of the car since it was low to the ground. I felt very bad for the guy. Interestingly, the driver looked like he truly cared about looking cool or getting attention. On that day, he definitely got plenty of attention.

Edit: I truly took an interest in wanting to buy a BMW mini and I did a little research and heard about the Mini cooper timing chain death rattle. After that, I just stumbled onto a website that simply had hundreds of horrific stories with bmw ownership. I think beamers look cool but as I said, if you read the stories at that website, these stories are frightening.

I can tell you that my 535ix is absolutely the best car I have ever owned. It had one issue with a computer component and was quickly fixed under warranty, free of charge. I put some change into the run flats in the beginning but quickly learned and bought some Conti's to replace them. Since then other than gas, BMW has paid for everything. I have gotten wiper blades, front and rear brakes and rotors along with all normal maintenance on their dime (well, I am sure it was in the price of the car). But no gouging, no B.S. It is a fantastic car and I have always been treated well. I will buy another.

P.S. I didn't buy it for attention. I bought it because it suited me and still does.

Just curious, what exactly do you mean by nimbler?

2. It is NOT just that a few on the internet posting about it concern. I own an 15 LE- not perfect but close enough (for a "rare" car Ford should have had these perfect, shows Quality is no longer Job 1 at Ford).

I need a new daily driver. I have visited over 10 dealers in Northern Calif trying to buy an Eco--very hard to find what I want and have thus expanded my desired/acceptable list as to options. But when I have found something close and driven up to 100 miles (Bay Area) to inspect--I have rejected that I have found as a bridge too far is being off as to body panels. I've owned about 8 new Mustangs since 99 and have never seen this type of run of body panel fitting issues. I didn't believe the internet traffic at first but I've sampled over 100 cars (I've inspected other cars on the lot when looking at the one I was interested in....cars I'd call first rate and flawless (proving it can be done) I can count on one hand. Current build quality is disgusting.

3. I've owned 3 Corvettes since 2003. 2 Z06's and a Grand Sport. Flaws exist with those cars as well (look up column lock, corners of the front fender matching up with the hood and door).

Statement of buying a C7 instead of Ordering a GT350 is fatally flawed and poser garbage from someone buying neither.
You can Order and not accept if it comes in flawed.
Very FEW right now can "order" a GT350...most dealers not doing so...just taking names for lists- order banks not open.
So claiming your not ordering a car you cannot order because it might have a panel fitment issue is beyond BS.

Kinda like saying I would have ordered a 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona back in 1973 when I was 15 but I was afraid the red color would have clashed with my green Schwinn 10 speed. Otherwise I would have a million dollar Daytona in my Garage right now....

Do not pretend to be in the GT350 market (or C7 market) when you more of a KIA kinda guy...

You need to calm the #$%^ down.

Fitment issues.... Should be acceptable on the lower models. For this car the tolerances for the lines and gaps should be scrutinized much more. If you consider that there are human hands assembling the motor...There are a lot of things that can go wrong.

So should I just assume you're full of shit saying you've owned both Mustangs and Corvettes? Since apparently if I'm interested in both I'm a poser and all.

I'm a car enthusiast and both the GT350 and C7 appeal to me. They are both domestic V8 sports cars with similar purposes for me (read: track and pleasure) that fall in the same price range.

I'll also refuse to pay over MSRP so that will be the deciding factor between the two.

I'm not talking about reliability....I'm talking about build quality, mainly what we can see and touch. And that is what has been lacking in the new Mustangs.

On a side note, my BMW has been much more reliable than ALL Ford products in my family.

i almost bought an M4. Test drove it twice. Walked away because the exhaust note sounded like a vacuum cleaner.

I came from a bmw, it was pretty reliable, I also have a Toyota 4runner. The new stang is my first ford and so far I'm not impressed with build quality. You do get a lot for your money but I'm starting to feel you also get what you pay for. My body panel alignment was OK but I swear it's getting worse by the day, kind of like the car is settling. I have a driveline clank that a lot of others are experiencing and Ford is also aware and replacing drive shafts and other parts to no avail (yet). I'm also starting to hear interior noises that should not be on a car with 1300 miles. Maybe this is how fords are built and I'm just used to higher quality.
Still happy overall but the build quality is subpar. They need to shut down that plant and get their act together in a hurry. Ford should be embarrassed, they should probably do a lot of firing and restructuring at the Flat Rock facility. A coworker has a 16k kia that has much much better panel tolerances than my car.

So has the senior management of Ford publicly addressed this issue of build quality? If it is indeed a wide-spread problem then they should be doing everything in their power to fix it. The last thing a car manufacturer can afford in this day and age is to give impression that they have contempt for their customers. Few things give that impression more clearly than sub-standard products.
