Update: I found a 2018 with a good service history, came with a passenger catch can, and no red flags for $47k. It had a little over 40k miles. Already got my esp and doing services this week. Thank you everyone for the help!! I love this car.

Both seem over priced by 2-4K(even with the Shelby tax). Oil consumption in the 2017 is a concern, as well as the AC issue. I plan to get an esp warranty on either

Can you guys give me any advice on what to look for or issues you might see in these cars?

I have read their Carfax reports and can’t see anything that sticks out other than minor damage reported on the 2017. I read the awesome posts about the do’s and dont’s but wanted to get some owner (or previous owner) insight on these two cars. Thank you for any help!

The A/C issue is not year dependent apparently... my 2019 lost the A/C 4 times in 50,000 miles.

If the 2017 doesn't have the magna-ride, go with the 2019 even if you don't track it.

IMHO both are way overpriced, especially with that mileage. MSRP on the 2017 was around $56K. To each their own, however.
yeah I agree due to the minor damage. KBB says 48-51 for the 2017 but here in the land of emissions and taxes it’s about the best I can find without going to AZ.

2017 has magma-ride and convenience package. Thank you for the heads up on the a/c issue!

I am in the market and found three cars. The one I test drove was missing its strut bar..so I said no to that one. Lol

If it were me, I would shop around a little bit more and see if I can find an 18 or 19 with lower mileage (30k or less) and 1 or 2 owner. They are out there. If I am going to spend this kind of money on 6+ year old performance car I'd try to get the absolute best car I can buy. That said, if I found one I liked from a Ford dealership, I'd ask for the Oasis report on the car. I would also review the Carfax report to see if there is a pattern of multiple tire replacement every couple thousand miles which COULD indicate a fair amount of track time. And, I'd look for rear bumper sag (gap/space between the bumper and body). I forget which year(s) that was an issue but something to check. And I'd look for any kind of repeat check electrical issues noted on the carfax. I would not want to risk buying a car with unresolved electrical gremlins. This is what I would do and I am on my second used Mach 1 after being in the market for a 350 myself but landed on a Mach instead.

Thank you! I have been shopping for about 2 years now and the prices were down a little while back but so were my finances. I do not intend to settle. The 2019 is not a great deal (no hassle pricing lol) and, having just test drove it, it seems to have been rode hard.

I am gonna test drive a machine 1 as well. Now that I have drove a first gen and second gen.

Neither. Once the window of buying a new car like that closes, It’s done. My personal feeling. Any great used ones come up after a few thousand miles..after that, it’s just someone else’s used car albeit with a much higher chance of having been driven hard.

I guess I’m the only AG vote for some strange reason 😎

The Avalanche price isn’t too far off. Maybe knock a couple K off for the reported damage, but the lower mileage is helping the price on that one. Plus Avalanche is a one year only color, so that helps the price as well. The 2016-2017 cars I’ve seen priced in the low/mid $40’s have had higher mileage and/or more significant damage reported. That’s probably floor pricing on these cars IMO.

Kona is a beautiful color. The 2019-2020 cars are holding value pretty well right now, which is why you see it priced the way it is. I voted for Kona but I think AG is a great color as well.

The 1 and 2 owner cars with lower miles are getting harder to find but they are out there. I think you’re going to see folks hold on to those examples, especially the R’s. But, if your budget allows, I’d seek one of those 1 or 2 owner cars out. I post a lot about one particular dealer that’s in my backyard (Diamond Motorworks in Lisle, IL), but they seem to find the cream of the crop as far as the Shelby’s go. They will also ship to anywhere in the US (and their pricing is reasonable). Check out their site and you can always give them a call and ask them to keep an eye out for something in your budget range too.

Good luck!
