100% yes. That's too much boost for the regular valve. The race valve is what you want.

The Tial unit is a very nice piece.

Technically no valve has a limit to what it can hold.
(the more boost you put to it, the harder it stays shut)

And "boost" is just a measure of restriction...
CFM/HP is a better way of looking at it.

EXAMPLE:
we have customers making 30psi on small motors, but only 500hp
while others are 10psi and 1,100hp (BBC's)

So the ProFlow is perfect for the guy making 500hp with high boost.
Since his CFM is pretty dang low. (lower than an S550 on a stock kit)

I usually swap to a larger style valve personally around the ~700 wheel HP mark.
I really enjoy the silence of the ProFlow. (I don't run a filter/muffler on it though)

So what's the advantage of larger valve? When off throttle it will bleed boost faster?

Solid question.

Since all bypass valves work off the same concept.
The more boost you shove down on the diaphragm the more it holds shut.
Holding "boost" is never a concern of a properly installed/functioning valve.

The top two main reasons you have them are.

- Surge. (keeping the compressor from "surging" when you lift off the gas.
- Sound. (people are very picky about their bypass valve sounds)

The more HP you are making (and the faster you as spinning a blower) the more CFM you need to bleed to keep the compressor from surging after letting off the gas. Thats all there is to it. :)

However, I can say runave ran small valves (ProFlows, Tiny Tials, Stock Bosch units) way way past their intended flow ratings. And its not like something crazy happens. The car doesn't make less power, tubes don't come flying off (if your clamps are tight)...You just here that nasty noise of compressor surge. Which is the sound of your blower or turbo hating you. :) And yes someday you will either blow a tube off, bend a throttle blade, or break your turbo/blower. (well maybe, depending on how badly you are surging it)

NOTE: My GF's Mercedes doesn't have bypass/blow off valve. So every time I let off the gas, I am like "poor turbo"... but that's the way they designed it, so thats the way it is.

It's great. I love the sound coming off throttle. Car is at Rev Auto now getting roll bar and some other minor stuff done to it before I track it again.
