Is the dealer fix a permanent fix or does it eventually stuff up too?

I have not heard of any replacement parts needing replacement, so perhaps they have sorted it.

Will be interesting to see if any of those with the MY17's experience the issue.

Re the left side rear view mirror.

I've read conflicting reports on this.

Some people say it's fine and recommend those with problems have them replaced. Others say that the mirror just doesn't work as a result of the LHD to component not being suitable for RHD cars.

What's the story? Is anyone happy with their left mirror?

It's useable (just), but I think they could do better with the set up. I'm average height so it just works, however I think those on the short ( my wife) struggle seeng anything out of it.

I have mine adjusted to my preferred position, however that does happen to be at the greatest level of adjustment (where it clicks because it can't go any further).

I like to have the hips visible in each mirror to assist with manouevering (especially when reversing into my tight garage). This was also helpful when first getting used to the size of the car as you could more easily judge your position on the road.

If you sit in an upright position with your wrists on the top of the wheel I cant see the side of my car. I could be looking at any inside lane. I have to lean further back to see the side or lane markings. Ford Aust know about the poor positioning of it

I may just record it as an issue at time of delivery - assuming I experience the same issues.

Yeah the mirror sux. I try to adjust it and it gets to the maximum point and kind of flicks back. Also is there some kind of fish eye effect or something on them? I find the image distorted. Anyway i just want normal mirrors. ..can you get them

My bad I thought for some reason it was about the pony side lamps.

Same here. My dealer called a week ago to say that Ford Aus have engineers thinking of a fix but none is available yet so it won't be sorted at my 3000km service.

So my pony projection lights have both stopped working altogether  anyone know if there is a setting to turn them on and off or maybe if it's a fuse blown or something . They were working fine :frusty:

This has been reported to Ford several times, my dealer raised some sort of engineering report on it when I took mine in for its 3000km and mentioned it. If your are a bit OCD read no more because once you know what the problem is it can not be unseen.

On most RHD cars the inside edge of the drivers mirror housing is shorter than on the passenger side, this gives the mirror the right angles you need and lets the housings look even from the front of the car.

On LHD cars this is reversed.

Our cars have LHD mirror housings, so what they have done is skewed the housings by changing the black bracket that holds the mirror housing to the door to try to compensate for it. You can only twist the mirror housings so much before it would really stand out, and this was not enough to get the right angle if you are not tall enough or sit a fair way forward. The service guy at the dealership agreed that for him the passenger mirror was all but useless.
If you go have a look you can see that the housings are twisted at different angles, which is also why the pony lights are uneven when they project on the ground, one is close to the car the other is a lot further out.

Not sure how they can fix this without producing RHD housings.

If there was some ADR concerning the angles the passenger mirror needs to be able to adjust to then a fix may be forced, but I don't think there is and we will be stuck with it. For me it is not an issue, but for my other half the passenger mirror may as well not be there.

That's true John but our mirrors are different to US mirrors, One would think Euro ones (which Are bigger) would be made for RHD cars :frusty:

I would say they only made one type of mirror for export and made that to suit LHD like most of Europe , except UK. I doubt they thought the RHD sales would be that many.

Does anyone know if we have a feature that when you drive the doors automatically lock ?

Not sure if it's a thing on the mustang... All my previous car did it
Was told today by my Ford dealer actually that this feature is not available in the Australian market. WTF? I've had other cars since 2000 where this could be set, either by driver, or by the dealer.
