Ah, the dig out. Yes, that would make sense. I never know whether a 'winter storm' is like a cold cyclone or whether it just means a shitload of snow, or a mixture - I think it depends on where you are.

WildB, isn't it just because they didn't bother changing the set-up from LHD, i.e., the staggering of the mirrors is designed for someone sitting in the passenger seat? (I think someone said that above) Maybe set it up for that and sit in the passenger seat. If it's all looks good, they simply haven't bothered to cater for people like us, i.e., the RHD market :(.
Went and had a good look at the mirrors on my 300C - interesting the right hand mirror is nearly at its max angle at 90 degrees and the LHD mirror has can go past 90 degrees. I reckon this all comes down to the US manufacturers not wanting to spend the money on constructing a new set of mirrors for the RHD market.

One annoyance I have, is the passenger mirror is about 50mm further back than the drivers mirror. It's mounting bracket is angled at approximately 45 deg, and the drivers is almost 90 deg. This means that to look at the left rear view mirror, what you mostly see is the side of the mirror, with just a sliver of mirror to be seen. Not only is this dangerous, but is just poor design. No modification for RHD, even though they are designed for european spec.
I am about to bail on Ford for good. C#$p service from Ford, and no communication other than me chasing the dealer for the last 10.5 months.

The first photo is of the drivers side looking down on the mirror. Note where the front of the mirror starts in relation to the window.

The second is the passenger side, showing the angle of the bracket.
Thinking about the geometry of this, it actually makes sense that the passenger side mirror is further back and angled more, suggesting that they did swap things for RHD. From the driver's seat the sight line to the driver side mirror is probably about 45 degrees, and to the passenger side mirror is 90 degrees, so the bracket angle is designed to compensate (by being opposite) resulting in a mirrored sightline parallel to the vehicle. If you can only see a sliver of the mirror then that suggests it is not angled enough. Your picture cuts off the actual mirror surface.

Met up with a good friend who does paint protection for a living....he will be doing ours and has done cars for us in the past.
He has just completed a DIB vert....looked very nice in the pics he showed me. It is only a week old. He said the factory paint was good....a couple of small spots that had polish swirls....most likely defect cleanups from either the factory or here at qc....He said they cleaned up easily and colour correction was minimal....no worse than ninety percent of the cars that he does.

Bob, can you publish the business name of your friend or send me a message with it as I am looking to do this straight after delivery. I much prefer going on referrals than finding someone cold. Thanks in advance, Alex.

It also makes no sense how our dumbo mirrors don't have BLIS
I'm also rather annoyed this wasn't included. I'd have happily paid more for this (I believe it comes with the 12 speaker + sub option in the US and I would have bought that bundle even though the stock system would otherwise be fine for me)

Having the BLIS on our Mondeo Titanium, I find it quite useless. 1. If your mirrors are adjusted correctly, there IS no blind spot, and 2. On the Mondeo, the BLIS indicator is IN the mirror (so you have to be looking at the mirror to see the warning - and if the mirrors are adjusted correctly - you'll see a car in the mirror, which is more obvious than a little orange light). However, the cross traffic alert I think would be worth having (which I suspect is probably combined with newer BLIS anyway)

Hi Everybody

I forgot to save the post from someone on here that mentioned that their dealer was doing some rear bumper panel re-alignment by shoving something into the rear wheel arches

I can't find the post and I just wanted to follow up on what the fix was

Cheers

Looks like my car has the common bonnet pitch, low in the middle but what worries me more is it has to be slammed to close, what has others done to fix this problem, dealer that has been GREAT seems to think the bonnet is OK

I had my dealership adjust mine last week. It's alot better after the adjustment but not 100% perfect. I haven't seen a bonnet that is 100% perfect as yet.

Here is more details from the UK posts that show pics before and after. The Oxford White pic on page 2 really shows the issue up.

Hope that helps.

I know it doesn't seem like precision engineering but all the bonnets need to be dropped from about 25cm to close them.
its not ideal but that's the way they are, you don't have a defect

Out of interest, what is his recommendation re paint protection?
Frostee....most of the paint protections are pretty similar...either the sio2, usually called glass or quartz or crystal something and the older polymer sealant type.
The detailers will all declare one is better than another depending on what they use or make the biggest mark up on. There is a big price difference in the product, so some take advantage of that.
The most important part is the pre-treatment, or as it is called, the colour correction.
The cut, if it is needed and the finishing polish carried out before sealant application will define how good the sealant will look.
The detailers that are best at the surface prep will always have a better final product.
Most people will add more sealant either sio2 or polymer sealant and wax over top of the original sealant anyway, it's just another layer of protection.
