Did the replica come with studs on it that go through the trunk lid so nuts are installed? If not, then that may be the issue. This is from memeroy, but IIRC, the original 2018+ PP1 spoiler has (4) studs and (2) guides, plus tape.
It came with seperate studs, and a template. The mounting holes are the same as factory I believe. Only the tape was missing. On the product page it says “smooth OEM fitment due to MP Concepts association with Ford allows for an easy and perfect fit to your Ford Mustang”. I might be a bit picky, but that doesn’t seem perfect to me.

Looking at your images of the PP1 on your car it appears that there are a couple of minor things happening.

The lower winglets don’t seem to be aligned.

I’m not sure if that is a characteristic of their (MPC) mold or how the PP1 was assembled (seeing how in the other images you posted of the raw product, it shows separate parts).

For instance, if you look at the image of the RIGHT side of your PP1 (passenger side), it appears that there is misalignment where the base of the winglet meets the diagonal cut of the lower portion of the PP1. Plus it appears that there is a piece either loose or not pushed in, because there is a gap or possibly that part hanging downward. It’s hard to explain, but look at your image of that side of the PP1 spoiler - not only is the base winglet lifted off the trunk lid, but it seems under the PP1, that cover cap is skewed.

Have you sent your images back to MP Concepts yet for their review and input?

The base of the PP1 lifting off the trunk lid, it’s hard to tell from the pics as to what exactly is causing it to lift. My guesses:

1) Distortion of the part due to shipment and the body shop did not test fit or try to shape it before prep/paint/installation.

2) Defective part coming out of their mold and lacked review of the part (QC issues) at MPC before it was packed - merely a guess.

3) The assembly of the sub-parts is causing stress on the main PP1 which is causing it to want to lift off of the trunk lid as seen in the images. Aftermarket parts such as body related usually do need minor tweaks. So it could be highly possible that the factory alignment holes and stud holes in the trunk lid should have been elongated just a smidge to allow the MPC PP1 to “settle” evenly onto the trunk lid since it’s not the same factory supplied part on the Ford assembly line.

I would suggest reaching out to MPC and see what their response is about the situation.

@Cobra Jet

Thanks for the excellent remarks Cobra Jet! I’d like to get in touch with MPConcepts, but their supposed email address ‘[email protected]’ doesn’t seem to receive any messages, and it’s not possible to send them mail via their social media either.

I noticed that loose cover cap too, the dealer said it’s just bad quality from the manufacturer. Now they are waiting for the double sided tape that Ford uses with the factory spoiler, and will attempt to install it once more when they have it. Hopefully the alignment will be a bit flusher.

The package included MPC’s own non-factory template, which the body shop used accordingly, that is supposed to include the exact mounting holes for their product (without any additional tweaks I guess). At least, this is not supposed to be a cheap knockoff product from Aliexpress. My paint guy didn’t like the raw product though, and said they had quite a bit of prep work before they could paint it.

I don’t think any of the parts are damaged or defective, because the seller sent me a couple of pics of another customer’s Mustang, who installed the exact same spoiler. If you look closely, it seems that the edge of the spoiler lifts off somewhat from the trunk lid, just like mine.

I might be a but fixated on the issue, but on the product’s page, the spoiler shown sits flush, so obviously I expected that as well: https://www.vehiclerevolution.com/ford-mustang-performance-spoiler-2015-2018.html

Don't use the tape that Ford uses. My factory installed PP1 spoiler is coming off as well. https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/factory-pp1-spoiler-coming-off.128667/
You want to use 3M VHB tape. It is black not grey. I gave details further back in this thread.
I’ve seen you advised to use the 3M VHB 5952, I will get some and bring it to the dealer so they can try both.
Don’t you think my non OEM spoiler requires a thicker tape, as it sits looser on the trunk lid?
