Never tuned a car, experience with Ford Racing tunes?
My only experience with a Ford Racing Tune was the Track Key on my Boss 302. The dealer handled the install. The car was a lot more fun to drive with the Track Key.

Why would they sell a Track Key for the 2015 when it comes with a "Track Mode" driving mode?
The TracKey is like an aftermarket tune. The built-in 'Track Mode' does not increase power output. TracKey does, along with a bunch of other stuff. I believe it is essentially a better packaging of the FRPP Procal (tune), allowing you to switch between the stock and aftermarket tunes with just the key.

With all the changes they made to the motor, trust me, they left themselves some cushion to turn up the wick some with no further changes.

But that cushion is what makes the TracKey option viable for them to market. They can't sell TracKeys if they give us every available HP from the factory. I'm hoping the TracKey bumps it to 450/410 or so. If that thing is available when my car is delivered, it will be installed before I leave the lot!

You didn't read my later posts... I know there were lots of changes made, I just don't see it being something that ford would do right now, especially with special edition models in the works. Why close the gap between the base GT and the high performance variants?

Ok, let me rephrase a little. I see no reason that there needs to be a key to unlock additional power output. It would be entirely possible for a tune and/or PCM update to allow the toggle switch for the "Track Mode" driving mode to also deliver more power. It's a binary bit thing. 0 = off, 1 = on. No different than switching between tunes on an SCT tuner.

Toggles are only available on the Premium GTs though. The feature/tune would need to be usable with base GTs too. Hence the key.

With what they have already done with their TracKey in the past, and the new Hellcat offering the same type of feature, there is some precedence for using that approach, and certainly some marketing incentive to do so. Let's face it, there is some novelty to having a tangible object in your hand that changes the performance of your car on the fly. To some I'm sure it's gimmicky, but I think there is a little something to it.

I certainly am not positive of what they will do. AFAIK, nothing has been formally announced yet. But is suspect we'll get hit with a wave of parts announcements as we get close to launch. Hopefully FRPP's tune will be among them in some form.

If they do implement a new Trackey, what if you have both sets of keys with you in the car? How will it know which one to use when starting with the push button?

In that case, you would get more than double the horsepower (435 + 450)...

;)
