Xp-10s have held up in the front, just need a matching set of rears.

also edit, do they even make hawk race pads for this thing yet?

You'll probably find that 10's in the rear will outwear 10's in the front maybe 2:1. That's about what I was seeing earlier this week, with about 0.20" worn off the fronts, 0.10" off the rears.

Your car and mine are probably pretty close in both power and weight, and I don't think there's all that much difference in front-rear weight distribution, so I'm assuming that the brake heat loadings are similar. I did get 6 track days, though I do have slightly better front rotor cooling than stock.

XP10's will crack ↓↓↓ - it looks worse from other angles. You may well want to end up with a 12f/10r combination.

Don't know about Hawk track pads for the EB, but given that XP10's are significantly kinder to rotors than the entry-level HP+, it seems like a moot question.

just reading through this thread again... awesome on track videos! the COTA ones so make me want to go there some day.

so here's a question, like i said i've used the carbotech xp10/xp8 on my '13 gt non-brembo/track and they were great!

so with my '16 gt pp, what downsides if any, would be going up to an xp12/xp10 combination?

thanks

The PP stock pads work very well on the track.

they do! but, if i move towards a dedicated rotor and pad i will want to move up. it also depends on the track and speed differences. i found a little more confidence the last time i was out in terms of top end.

but thats my question asked a little vaguely, other than rotor wear what are some other disadvantages if any going to a higher temp pad or more agressive.

EDIT: I know this - each pad can feel different. Some pads are able to handle higher temps better. Some pads need to have more heat in them before they work optimally.
I don't know this - how stock pads compare to an xp10/xp8 (my only real experience other than stock pads on '13 gt). How xp10/xp8 combo would compare to xp12/xp10 and how xp12/xp10 compare to stock.

i don't have ducting on the new car, had it on the old car, and at my track there's potential for a lot of high-speed-low-speed braking and i'm still pretty new at it.

I have used Carbontech and Raybestos for 12 to 24 hour endurance races in a BMW E30
The Carbontech were the most $$ but I could get over 24 hours on One set in the fronts.
The Raybestos were about 35% less and would last about 18 - 20 hours. So for the 12 to 14 hour races we ran the Raybestos. I think I will try a set on the GT PP car. Either ST 41 or ST 47s up front.http://porterfield-brakes.com/images/raycomp2008_11_06_03_35_07.pdf
I just did a Sebring DE with the car 100% stock. I took it easy and was impressed with how the car behaved. ( I have been running BMWs for the past 15 years)
Before my next event it will have Camber plates and a coil overs installed.

At tracks with a lot of long straights, ie VIR, the stock pads lasted me about 4 laps before the onset of heat related fade. With better fluid, 6 laps and they were gone. A tight track like summit point and I would never have an issue.
I'll be running a full set of XP-10's at my first day this year and will provide feedback.

LOL you are "the destroyer of pads", sir-brakes-alot...

so unless not enough time has passed for others to get their eyes on this thread/my question, it seems that there is no downside to going a step up in pads... xp12/xp10. the big difference then is simply they can handle more heat without deteriorating or otherwise negatively affecting rotors by way of diposits etc... (notwithstanding normal wear and that some pads are worse than other regarding that).

yea, just keep your stockers for the street and properly bed the XP-10's for the track. If you are one of the people who says stockers are good for the track, maybe try the XP-8's, as they are closer to "normal brake" feel.

I just ordered a set of Endurance track pads from Porterfield.
For the RC719 Brembo 6 piston brakes.
T 43 is the compound. $399 A bit cheaper than the Carbontechs.
I have use both brands on my E30 Chump car. the Porterfilds last about 80% of what the Carbontechs. at $699 for the Mustang.

I ended trying the AX6 brake pads for the front. Trying to cover both autox and trackdays sometimes in the same weekend. The pad works very well for autox but will leaving you with wanted more after a few hard laps.

I think for this year the 12/10 combo is in order.
