I have noticed mine do this too about twice now since I've owned the car (new, 5 months). The first time I only caught the end of it, but the second time I saw it do it and stopped it before it got to the limit and clicked back into position. It seems, for me, to only happen when I'm already in the car and I've moved the seat somewhere, and then hit the preset to get it back. I have not adjusted the mirrors at all, but they will move. I've seen them move a hair other times as well where I never touched them to begin with. I will have to keep an eye on this. Keep the updates coming.

EDIT: Only the passenger mirror has moved so much as to hit the limit. The driver has only moved a smidge several times.

EDIT 2: I saw in another thread this was happening to people who have somehow linked their fob to seating/mirror presets which I didn't know was possible. Some of them have since deleted that link and the issue stopped. I have never made the link so no help to me.

This is definitely now a known issue. Supposedly it's the mirror motors, but they haven't fully solved it yet. They replaced the motor in both our mirrors, and the driver side has been fixed ever since. The passenger side we've had replaced twice now, they reprogrammed the system, and it's STILL doing it. At least it's covered by warranty, but it is a pain in the neck to drop the car off repeatedly for the exact same issue.

I'm still under warranty, but have not taken the car in for it because the fix seems very hit & miss (so far)

I still have one or the other -- usually the driver's side -- clack-clack-clack -ing approximately every 2.7 times I enter the car. Occasionally it'll be the pass side, and yesterday for the first time ever it was BOTH sides!

I almost never use the fob to unlock; I just walk up and grab the door handle...and that's always when it starts. Some times it will clack-clack-clack a few times then reset itself to the pre-programmed position, but other times it will just keep clacking away for many seconds after I've hopped in and sat down.

Any new news on this problem? Any new fixes from the dealer that work and keep working?

SSM 49217 - 2015-2020 Edge/MKX/Nautilus/F-150/Mustang - Mirror Click And/Or Ratcheting Noise - Built On Or Before 18-Jan-2020

Some 2015-2020 F-150/Mustang, 2016-2020 Edge, 2016-2018 MKX and 2019-2020 Nautilus vehicles built on or before 18-Jan-2020 may exhibit a mirror click and/or ratcheting noise when using memory functions or easy entry/exit function. This may be due to the software in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM). To correct the condition, reprogram the DDM and PDM with the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor times in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Edit: 8-21-2021 - the dealer did the reflash as called for in the SSM and it fixed the problem. Cost $60.

Both of my mirrors do it, at random times, I'd say about once every 2-3 weeks. I never once thought to just turn it off and set button 2 or 3 to seat back a few inches for easy entry and exit. Going to do that today.

I had the same Issues and took a video. Mine start with the passenger side and eventually the drivers side started doing it. Went to the dealer back in May for my state inspection and showed them the SSM and video. They fixed it and haven’t had the issue since.
