Potholes

It's too much apparently to ask that our government maintain our roads. I feel like I'm constantly dodging potholes, which inevitably leads me to another pothole. Here in Jersey you can't go for a drive without taking your car to be realigned when you're done. My poor suspension. All I ask government for are some cops and smooth roads but it seems as if they're hellbent on defunding both.

More sidewall height = less likely to get "snake bite", or the side of the rim scuffing the inner lip of a pothole as you drop into it. A taller sidewall generally flexes a bit more as well, allowing for more cushion than a low profile tire that's additive to the damping of the suspension.

Absolutely. I can't tell you how many wheels, tires and suspension damage I have paid for because of potholes and big wheels. My Mustang has 18" wheels. I'd put 17" on it if I could. My BMW had 17" wheels and it was pretty nice. I put 16" wheels on my Lexus 430SC. It looked like NASCAR, but it sure cut down on the repair bills.

We have potholes so large in Massachusetts they have cops inside directing traffic!
