Here’s another kitchen appliance that I bought last year that has come in handy. Different heat cooking options. Press a sandwich to toast both sides. Great for cooking steaks as both sides get seared and cooked evenly. You can cook a steak to well done in about 10 minutes. Also made pancakes on the flat side. The grill plates are reversible. One side is flat and the other is a grill. I also bought waffle plates. That chunk of meat I made last night was about 2 inches thick and was cooked to well done in less than an hour but not charred. In Canada the regular price is $120 but Home Depot had it on sale for $60. Pics are from the net.

sorry sir, for that inexcusable sin we must insist that we take the appliance away from you. The only thing that should ever be cooked to well done is the Chicken. Please abide by these rules and adjust your menu accordingly. Thank you.

That's when you just serve her the Chicken. I've been in restaurants where the wait staff will outright refuse to take a 'well done' order and instead "ma'am, may we suggest the chicken or the fish". marital bliss must take a backseat to proper and sensible culinary practice.

I've heard it is...pungent when you make it. Hoe bad is it actually?
depends on how much garlic and how 'aged' (yeah let's use that term) it is. Any good Asian grocer in/near Korea-town will have 4 or more varieties and other pickles. Some are VERY spicy, some look dangerous but are total pussycats in the hotness scale.

This is fresh kimchi (Baechu Geotjeori), so you dont get the smell or taste of fermentation. Traditional kimchi does have a strong odor but only after its had a chance to ferment though. I get a large jar from my grandma and even in a sealed jar in my fridge, you can smell the odor in the kitchen. I dont mind it but my coworkers do complain when i bring some in with my lunch.

No pics today. My sis and I made pork chops stuffed with a shallot, sage and bread crumb stuffing. Proper potatoes au gratin this time that had smoked gruyere and smoked gouda cheeses; topped with hot Hungarian paprika and parmesan. Sauerkraut. Green beans. And a basic salad.

Washed down with Champagne and a Modelo.

LOL.

I few years ago I made a rib roast for Christmas. Gave the best cut to my new at the time brother in law. He ate around the pink parts, so like 80% was left over. I was so sad, I wanted that piece.

I really want to like kimchi, I love cabbage, I love peppers/heat, and I love fermented things. But I just can't eat kimchi by itself. Mix in a good portion in a bibimbap and I'm good. Mix it in some rice, still good. By itself...🤮

Speaking of pupusas. There's a huge Salvadorian population in this area. I've found a couple great hole in the wall places that make fantastic pupusas. So good with Curtido(fermented cabbage relish). Sadly my main place has gone to shit and I think is closed now. The other place takes at least 30min to make your order and the staff doesn't speak English.

Try a higher oven temperature and a shorter cooking time for more lava.
Also, its crying out for a caramel sauce glaze!

Good work.

I made hundreds of these when I worked for Anne Burrell at Lumi in NYC.
425 degrees for 8 minutes if I recall.
