On the passenger side valve cover did you have to totally remove the high pressure fuel line ? The metal tube one going from the pump to the high pressure injectors ? Or can you just disconnect it from the pump and leave the other side connected?

I'm going to tackle this task while I'm off work for Xmas in a few weeks and was wondering if the high pressure fuel line needs to be totally removed or not when pulling the passenger side valve cover .

It does. There's no way to get the valve cover past it. The sound deadening for the pump, the bracket that holds the sound deadening and the line need to be removed.

The line to HPFP will definitely get in the way... but you don't HAVE to completely remove it. Having it completely removed would certainly make the valve cover re-install a lot easier.

I removed one side of the line to the pump, the other end of the fuel line seemed to be next to impossible to get to with any tools I've got (and I've got a lot). I suspect the intention is that you remove the intake manifold which I didnt do. I kind of very very carefully moved the line up, bent it just ever so slightly and worked around it.

I removed the pump bracket, sound deadening andpump itself and removed the little plate on the back of the motor where the fuel line is routed from (just to make some room)

Awesome thanks for the feedback fellas . I will more than likely just pull the intake manifold to get to the other side of the high pressure fuel line and remove it completely to make things easier .
