So I will start by saying im not 20 any more.......

I would liek my 16 GTPP to handle and not wobble but do not want the harsh ride I had with my 197 or SN95 when upgrading to get them to handle. Is there a good spring/Strut/Shock combo that will handle more like a European car but still have the nice ride most of them have? I would like to keep stock or close too it ride height so that I dont have to worry about bottoming out.

thanks

Keep your stock springs and get yourself a set of good adjustable shocks. Konis or Steeda.

Properly adjusted, the ride is far more composed over big bumps at speed, and reacts faster to changes and driver inputs, and still easy to live with stock ride height and good manners over little bumps at low speed in town.

^^^This. The only way you will have a smooth ride.

I have Steeda Pro-Action shocks. They're valved differently from Koni Yellows. In real life... you'll be happy with either of them. Whichever you can snag cheaper. You'll end up somewhere in the middle-ish of either of their adjustment ranges, I'm sure of it.

My car rides like a BMW on much lower springs, handles very differently - in a good way. You may opt to get Steeda's non-adjustable dampers which are about equal to the middle of the range adjustment on the Pro-Action shocks, which will be fine for GTPP springs, all Steeda springs, and most other springs apart from ultra high spring rate options like BMR Handling, etc. Save you a few bones, gets you simplicity, and you get something better than Ford Performance dampers in more or less the same color (i.e., not fugly yellow). :)

I'd also suggest adjustable sway bars, setting the front to middle stiff, the rear to the least stiff setting to start. Sway bars have helped my car A LOT.

They're pretty similar. I have Konis because they made it to market first. If I had to buy now I'd say its a tossup. Koni has been around for a long time supporting enthusiasts. Steeda has of course is very good to us Mustang guys.

What I want is a set of coilovers that are adjustable from no drop to up to -2" drop, and with built-in camber plates.

Track Day: lower the car, increase the pre-load, increase the shocks and increase the camber.
Daily Day: set it all back

I am waiting on Stance and Ground Control products to mature just a little more. Hopefully by next summer.

thanks all for the great info. I think, being that I never get to autocross or HSDE I will go with the Steeda non adjustable and my stock springs and see how she does. that would be the lowest cost option and i wont be out as much if I dont like it.

Keltymd,

You won't be disappointed in the Steeda Pro Action Shocks & Struts - the shocks & struts are engineered by Steeda and manufactured to provide the ultimate in ride quality and handling!

We can also look at some other options to get you dialed in & give you that great ride - I look forward to working with you!

Best Regards,

TJ

Thanks TJ. I will be looking for more to tighten it up but keep the kids from complaining about the ride and my lower back in one piece.....
