I don’t see it here as much but on Facebook coyote pages ported boss, ported GT350 and now ported 2018 manifolds seem to be all rage...any proven gains or is it just a trend where one guy does it and the rest think it’s cool. Gt350 user here.

You'd think those offering this service would do a back-to-back dyno test to prove the gains. Seems like the obvious move to generate sales but what do I know lol.

Yup. And although I know guys like Bret Barber does great porting work I still would love to know if there are gains here.... are the port sizes really that mismatched on the head side of the manifold, for those who have looked at it.

They are most likely just removing defects in the mold, small bumps, ridges and lips. I know the throttle body inlet side of the manifold had a tab and a few other things that could be knocked down and I’m sure there’s a few ponies to be gained by doing it, but the throttle body diameter is the actual restriction point on boosted applications and increasing that will yield more gains.

Brett Barber does post results, although it's hard to believe/know how much if any tinkering around was done.

Yeah that was NA car with 15-17 manifold. I've seen a couple examples of the 18 (non ported) manifold make big gains on centri setups, but mostly up top past 6000rpm or so.

I won't be porting mine -- pricing of doing so vs. value is not there for me.

Yea, it might not. I’ll talk to Bret and see. I’m looking to make someone tweaks before fall, looking into possible restrictions on inlet and on the way out (still have 2.5” exhaust after headers.

I just got a 2018 manifold and got it ported. Although, I'll be upgrading my fuel system and going no cats at the same time as installing my ported manifold so I can't prove anything about the manifold itself. I mainly got it ported so everything inside is smooth and the flow is smooth. I have a Paxton car too. In general, I'll be doing a before and after dyno to see how much I gained from my current setup.

I’ve been trying to get a hold of Bret Barber to get his input but no luck.
