The camaro has more than 455. They just claim 455 so it doesn't step on the vette's toes. I saw where a stock camaro dyno'ed at 431 which would probably put it more like 470 to 490 crank hp.

Anyone that says they aren't competing with the camaro and there isn't a hp war is crazy. Sales are better but when they can lay down the trump card and beat it in hp, ring times, 1/4 mile, and sales, ford wins and they have a motor that can do it.

They can go 470 to 475 and still have 30 on the table for the s650. By the time the s650 comes out, they'll have the coyote capable of even more. (if cafe standards don't shut down the hp war)

The pp3 on a 15-17 coyote is good for 472 so ignoring the di/pi and 12:1, it's easy for them to achieve. Throw in di/pi, 12:1, 7400 redline and they can easily get 472 peak (with room on the table for the s650) and probably have a really flat curve with tons of area under the curve. With the A10, magride, a 7400rpm redline with a flat 470hp curve, good tires, and the correct gearing the mustang II s550 can take the current camaro.

Regardless of what they do, we all know with di/pi, 12:1, and a 7400rpm redline, a good tune is all this car will need to have 500 crank hp.

Where did you read that the 5.0 engine is going to have the compression from 11:1 to 12:1??
Is there a link?
I forgot where but it has been confirmed along with larger valves for the new 5.0.

This new motor is going to be a beast. Depending on what IM/TB they put on it, it may just need CAI, headers, opg, and a tune to be a 8250 rpm beast. I could see them putting the gt350 IM/TB on it stock. Put e85 to it and this will be an easy 500 rwhp NA car.

It's part of the press release.
And my guess is going to be 460.
So,.........how does this new compression affect mods for this car?
I'm assuming it's going to be all new aftermarket R&D before we see any tunes/superchargers and such?

I'm assuming so too but it's nothing tuners haven't figured out before. As far as boost goes, start lower and see what it will take. There are supercharged and turbocharged gt350's running 12:1 compression ratios. The only thing that may take them a little to figure out would be the di/pi and I don't think that will take long.

True. Exactly what I was thinking about with the supercharged GT350/GT350R cars.
Thanks!

High compression doesn't automatically mean a dead engine either on boost. There are tuners out there who PREFER higher compression for instance to keep the turbos spooling. This isn't the 80's anymore. Science has come a long way.

The LT1 in the Vette is 11.5:1 and that things just refuses to give up on 10 lbs.

Keep dreaming.

No changes to GT350 except for colors.
I'm not saying it will happen but if the gt gets all of these updates then it's either gonna get a hefty price increase or to keep the gt350 competitive they will increase power as well

Im guessing 475 because besides the bump in compression and Di, Im betting that the higher redline means a new intake manifold based on the gt350s!
475 hp would only be a 40 hp increase!

It's not all about peak power. I want to see the difference in the actual power curve. Even if it's only a 15hp difference at the peak I bet it gains a lot under the curve below 3500rpm

guessing 470 since its closest to the Lexus RCF/GSF engine which is very similar
