I've clayed and waxed my DIB and it's just not a brilliant of a shine as I think it should be. I was going to use some Chemical guy's products this next time and see if makes a difference. My question is, does anyone think the car needs polished or will a glaze or Black light help bring out some of the shine?

There are some real faint micro scratches, they look more like little spider webs. I will try to get a picture. I have a DA and i'll need to pick up some new pads, just looking for recommendations on polishing. My plan for products is as follows.

Polish?
Black light
Jet seal
Butter wet wax

Unless someone has any other suggestions.

I'm not an expert by any stretch so keep that in mind...if they are really micro scratches you would likely get great results with Blacklight without a polish. I'm not normally a fan of polishing unless it is really needed. It is more risky, especially for a novice like me, and the entire point of polishing is to take off the scratched clear coat. Even thought it is only a very small amount I try not to polish unless really needed.

try a finishing polish first like v38 i think it is in a small area since it will have least amount of cut with either black bad or white... if that doesn't work then step down to v36 with orange pad for more cut or white for less followed by v38 on white, then 2x blacklight coats with black pad, jet seal, then wax.

it will blind you after!

Thanks for the help. I think that's a good plan, I'll just get some v38 and go from there. How many pads do you think i'll need? I've read where some guy's use 4-5 on a car.

Thanks,
Matt

I have CG v34-V38, meh. Meguiars 205 or Menzerna 3500-4000 are better options for what you are looking to do. Meguiars 205 can found at most auto parts stores.

With my little knowledge of Polishing, I assume I will not need a glaze after using the Menzerna? I was on One of the detail forums looking the products up and there was really no mention of it.

Also, Do you use the Menzerna sealant or another brand. They were pushing Wolfgang I believe.

Are you planning on using a polisher or are you just going to be working the polish by hand?

I usually use Mez 4000 for light polishing (awesome product) and then top it with Collinite 845.

The Collinite is a little tricky to use, but the results are awesome and it lasts.

I use a porter cable random orbital for all my application work and high quality microfiber to remove the product.

I use the Wolfgang Swirl Remover. I follow up with Wolfgang Paint Sealant and then a couple coats of Pinnacle Souveran wax.

Go to the 20 minute mark of this video to see how to use the swirl remover with a machine. [ame]

This. I have the 4500 menzerna also it it has very little cutting power, its more of a final step one you use once you get all you can out of menz 4000. 4500 is more like a jewelers polish
