Had a header leak, car was throwing po171 code (system to lean) bolts had fell out of the passenger side of my headers causing unmetered air to go in.
Got it fixed and everything retightened, car is still throwing same code but runs better, gas mileage went up immediately, sounds better and doesnā€™t pop as much on deceleration as it previously did.
I truly believe itā€™s fixed & I cleared the code with my nGauge ..but car keeps throwing code after 30 min of driving, my question is do I have to disconnect the battery also? or should the code have went away after clearing it and the problem is still there?
Thanks

Usually clearing with a tuning device is all you need. If the code keeps coming back it usually means it is lean.

It wouldn't hurt to unhook the battery, just in case.

Are you using gas or E85? Did you or the shop replace the gasket?

Ok Iā€™ll try to unhook the battery.
Im using 93 gas. The shop didnā€™t replace the gasket if Iā€™m not mistaken they just got bolts in the ones that needed them and tightened up everything. He did mention that the gasket could get burned up from issues like this but when I picked the car up he didnā€™t say that was the case with my car so I assumed everything was good.
I have a supercharger I planned to start installing tomorrow, do you think I should put it on hold until I get this sorted out? Or should I be fine as long as I get it fixed?

I would get this sorted out first. If it truly is lean the supercharger will make things infinitely worse. Burnt pistons or valves come to mind.

I think I'd find a different shop. It doesn't take long for a header leak to destroy a gasket. Replacing the gasket should be part of the estimate.

If left leaking long enough it will burn a groove in the head.

Drove the car today, I decided to try to reflash the tune, reflashed it drove the car all day no codes. Not sure at this point if itā€™s an issue or not anymore.

Do a log and send it to your tuner.

Ok so I sent a log to my tuner, and I basically got a short response saying itā€™s no point in chasing n/a problems if Iā€™m about to be supercharged. My thing is if the issue is a leak at my headers and the headers are staying on which he knows, whether Iā€™m supercharged or n/a the problem is still going to persist either way so why not view my logs and help handle it now.. or am I overthinking?

That log is useless because you didn't have the engine fully warmed up. Get it to full operating temp and do a 5 min log.

STFT, LTFT, RPM, ECT, MAF #per min, Batt voltage, throttle position, knock, spark advance, lambda bank 1 and 2.

I probably forgot something but that will be enough to see if it is ok or not.

I already started disconnecting everything for the install last night ā˜¹.

Lund might be more user friendly after he gets your next 400 bucks.

Personally I'd find a different tuner because Lund is very poor at solving problems, like you just discovered.

I see you are in Fl. I'd take it to PBD and have a real dyno tune. I think Steeda has a dyno also.

Good luck.

I already paid for the supercharger tune back in august ended up switching blowers last minute. Theyā€™re probably tired of me dragging them along for 3 months with questions honestly :cwl:
