"Play" command not recognized

2016 GT Premium, latest Sync version offered for the car installed around a year ago.

Today it stopped recognizing the "Play" command for music on USB. USB drive hasn't been changed in over a year. Not a microphone problem because it recognizes every other command 100%. Recognizes "play" zero percent. I thought it might be related to GraceNotes and maybe it is, but it still shows the same version number it has since the last Sync update.

Likely the media index is messed up.
Try "Settings", then "Media Player", then select "Update Media Index".
