Just finished this weekend plasti-dipping the lower valances around the car. The color is Tahitian Green from the Dip Pearl aerosol line I am pretty happy with the way it turned out and thought that I would share.

Looks great! Did you have to do any prep to the plastic before dipping?

Reason being, I have heard that because of it's rough texture, dip and even vinyl is hard to stick to it.

Thinking of doing the same!

Just cleaned and alcohol prep. There was some residual product that blackens it up so I wanted to make sure that was removed. I have not notice any adherence issues . . . i suppose time will tell. I put (4) heavy coats and (2) coats of glossifier. I do wonder if it will be a challenge to pull it off but I suspect that it will not. The last parts I plasti-dipped I had on for about a year before removing and it came off without an issue.

How much product did it take to cover everything with that many coats?

it took a can of the green and less than a can of the glossifier. I purchased a couple of cans and probably could have shot more . . . the thicker the better is what they tell you. I am thinking of doing the mirrors as well. We will see . . .

That would work great with flat black once our black panels start to turn gray.

The black works well to "renew" old black plastic. I did it on my Saab last year and it was amazing.

Just tired this on my rear valence. Looks good but did not survive tape removal. Are you supposed to remove tape while it’s still wet?
